Whiskey Grove

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Bridger National Forest holds Whiskey Grove along the east bank of the Green River, a small nine-site campground reached by half a mile of narrow gravel road off the washboard Greens Lake Road. Sites are first-come, first-served. The campground runs from mid-June through mid-September, with nightly fees of $6 for seniors and $12 for others, and a 14-day stay limit.

The layout matters for trip planning. Only the back three or four sites sit directly along the river, where visitors have reported elk crossing at sunrise. The remaining sites are set within the trees but away from the water. RVs and larger trailers face real constraints here, as most sites are sized for smaller rigs, with a posted maximum length of 23 feet. Cell service is absent, and the nearest resupply is roughly a 30-minute drive. Green River Lakes Campground lies about nine miles northeast for campers weighing options along this stretch of the river.

Amenities are minimal. There is one vault toilet on site, no potable water, and no trash service, so campers need to pack out their waste. Bear containers are available. Greg L. notes it is "hidden away from the busy Greens Lake road," which keeps foot traffic lower than more accessible sites in the area. Pets are welcome, campfires are permitted, and a camp host has been present in past seasons.

Whiskey Grove tends to work best for self-sufficient campers with smaller vehicles who want direct access to the Green River corridor without the crowds that gather at higher-profile sites.

I didn’t camp at this exact spot but there’s dispersed camping pull offs of all sizes all along the green river. We saw elk crossing the river at sunrise, it was beautiful
