Boaters and swimmers will find Sandy Point campground positioned along Guernsey Reservoir, though the lake drains annually for about a week to ten days, typically in July. The campground sits close to active train tracks, where slow-moving freight trains pass with relatively low noise levels. Sites accommodate RVs up to 110 feet with electric and water hookups at $10 per night.
The Sandy Point loop requires driving about half a mile on gravel road to reach sites. Waterfront sites offer tree cover, while interior spots provide less shade. Campers use this location as a base for exploring regional historical sites and museums, with short trails available on the property. Reservations are available, and calling ahead helps confirm lake levels before arrival.
