SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Medicine Bow campground sits within Medicine Bow National Forest along a dirt road that requires high clearance and four-wheel drive. That requirement is not advisory. Reviewers note the road becomes impassable after rain, so timing matters. The site is primitive and free, with no water on-site, meaning campers need to bring their own supply. Wildlife activity near a nearby pond has included elk. Bottle Creek Campground is roughly 0.7 miles northeast for those wanting a closer alternative. Plan around dry weather windows and arrive with a full water supply.

So peaceful

There is a sign at the beginning of the dirt road for high clearance and 4 wheel drive. This is not a suggestion. This spot was beautiful, peaceful and primitive. Pack in and pack out and make sure you have water. We saw two bull elk and a calf play in the valley and drink from the pond as the sun went down. There’s cacti, sage and pretty wildflowers.
