Mountain bikers and winter campers access this former Forest Service campground via a short hike from the Snowbasin Maples parking area. The abandoned site requires backpacking-level preparation since no facilities remain, though water sources appear along the dirt road leading to the camping area. Mountain biking trails crisscross the region, bringing foot traffic during warmer months, while winter visitors need snowshoes or touring gear as snow deepens. Trail conditions can turn muddy in spring, and campers should evaluate avalanche risks on relevant slopes. For additional options, see camping near Huntsville. The site works best for self-sufficient campers comfortable with dispersed conditions.
