Great winter spot

Short hike in for winter camping, leaving out of Snowbasin Maples Lot. Snowshoes or touring setup will make it easier over just boots, especially as the snowpack deepens. Trail is very popular for winter use and you will likely see or hear other people, but it is quiet at night. Choose campsite carefully and consider avy dangers if relevant, but a generally mild slope in the former campground area.

Great getaway

This is an abandoned campground just north of Snowbasin. Short walk in, on a dirt road. Water sources along the road to the camp. Mountain biking trails run throughout the area, so except some foot traffic. Not bad for being so close to ogden.

Beautiful country

We hiked up to the campsite. The place is good for tent camping but the campsite is abandoned so prepare as if you are on a backpacking trip. Plenty of people hike the trailed but you can also ride a horse or mountain bike up here. The only downfall is that we went in late April and the trails were really muddy. The upside was there was no one else around.
