Deep in Yellowstone's backcountry, site 4G7 sits near Wolf Lake among lily pads and adjacent meadows. This hike-in dispersed campsite requires advance permits and operates on a pack-in, pack-out basis. The site includes a designated fire ring for dead and downed wood, plus a bear hang for food storage.
Wildlife activity runs high in this area, with campers reporting swans, ducks, loons, wolves, and hawks during overnight stays. Mosquitoes present a significant challenge during summer months, making insect repellent essential. The location serves as a waypoint for hikers continuing roughly three miles to Ice Lake. Chipmunks and squirrels frequent the area around camp.
