About
National Park
Yellowstone maintains 293 designated backcountry campsites. Each designated campsite has a maximum limit for the number of people and stock allowed per night. The maximum stay per campsite varies from 1 to 3 nights per trip. Group size limits range from 4 to 12 people. With the exception of four campsites, we allow only one group at each campsite. If your group size exceeds the campsite limit, you’ll need to obtain a second permit and cook and sleep as separate groups. A food storage pole or box is provided at every campsite so that food and attractants may be secured from bears. You will need to provide your own rope (35 feet in length or greater) at sites with food poles.

Oh-hum backcountry campsite
0D1 back country campsite is the first back country site I have visited that I did no care for. While the site is about a 5 min hike off the main trail, the site had little to offer besides a spot to camp. Their is no few at all and no water source near the camp. It is about a 12 minute hike from camp to a creek crossing the Fairy Falls trail before the turn to this camp to obtain water. The site does have plenty of flat ground to camp and a bear pole for hanging your food bag. The biggest turn off for this site was all the toilet paper along the access trail. Day hikers seem to use the access trail as their restroom on their hike to fairy fall and just leave their toilet paper on the ground just a few feet from the trail.
