Reservations are available at Prairie View Camping in Pepin, Wisconsin, where nightly rates run $35–$49. The campground sits in mixed forested and open terrain near a river, with drive-in and walk-in access. Full amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, picnic tables, firewood, and trash service. Campfires are permitted and pets are welcome. Campers wanting to compare camping near Pepin will find a handful of nearby options, including Lake Pepin Campground to the south.
Description
Enjoy the sweeping prairie and sunset views, quiet nights and dark skies from your camping area. Hike right from your campsite onto 80 acres of prairie, woods and valley views. Lots of wildlife and wildflowers. Arrangements can be made to rent kayaks or a canoe to float the nearby Chippewa River.
All sites have views of the prairie, picnic tables and access to the shower and sink. The Bee Balm and Oak Grove sites have fire pits. Site 3, Meadowlark, does not facilitate having a fire as it is a mowed grass area within the flammable restored prairie.
Site 1. Bee Balm. This site is closest to the shower shower and toilet. If you are camping with a trailer we will set you up in the Bee Balm site as there is more space and better access with a larger vehicle.
Site 2. Oak Grove. includes a grove of young oak trees that you can set up your tent in. It is a bit farther from the shower and toilet facilities.
Site 3. Meadowlark. Enjoy a meadow lark's view of the prairie from within a mowed opening within the restored prairie. There is a short (20') walk to get to the tent site from where you park. No fires are permitted at this site due to the surrounding tall grass.
The campsites are located on a working homestead, complete with old farm house and gardens. Savanna Moon is a 80-acre homestead in western Wisconsin.
