Paddlers and kayakers have a distinctive reason to consider Jordan Park: three walk-in tent sites sit on a small island accessed by a footbridge, each with direct water access on multiple sides. Site 1 is the largest and closest to the bridge and the pit toilet just across it. Site 2 runs smaller but more secluded. Site 3, the most open of the three, has water on three sides. These island sites book out early, so reservations well in advance are worth the effort. The main campground, across the highway, handles drive-in and RV sites with electric and water hookups for rigs up to 35 feet, plus clean showers available to all campers.
The park sits close enough to Stevens Point that a forgotten item is a short drive away, but the island sites in particular feel removed from the surrounding area. Road noise is a real factor here. Several reviewers mention hearing semis clearly in the evening, and one notes that some drive-in sites sit close together. Morning maintenance can also be disruptive; one camper described leaf blowers and lawn mowers running from 7 a.m. for several hours. Worth knowing before you book.
Beyond the island, the park gives access to a beach, a bike trail, hiking areas, and a nature center next door. Ame G. calls it a "good start to a day long paddle down the little plover river," and the lake also works well for canoeing and kayaking without committing to a longer route. The boat launch is well-regarded. Wildlife in the stream area includes turtles, crayfish, and frogs, which makes the site worth exploring on foot even without a paddle in hand.
The campground runs May 1 through October 31, with a two-night minimum and a 14-night maximum for reservations. Pets are allowed. Campers planning a longer central Wisconsin trip can also look at Portage County DuBay Park or Plover River Retreat to the north. If the island sites are available when you search, they're worth grabbing.

All sites except the canoe sites are provided with electrical hookups. Reservations can be made in person at the Portage County Parks office or on this website with Master Card or VISA, and must be made at least 7 days in advance of when a site is to be occupied. The campground also has a handicapped site that can be reserved.

Once the campsite is set up, registered and paid for, it does not need to be occupied for the first 48 hours. After that, the campsite must be occupied every 24 hours.
Camping permits expire at 3:00 P.M. Extensions must be made prior to 10:00 A.M.
