Sandwiched between Interstate 5 and an active rail line roughly 10 miles from the Mt. St. Helens Visitor Center, Toutle River RV Resort is a large, amenity-heavy park that now operates under the RV Inn Style chain. The location makes it a practical overnight stop or base camp for exploring the volcano country of southwest Washington, with campgrounds near Castle Rock providing additional options for the area. Sites range from open gravel pads to more tree-lined spots toward the back of the property, and the mix of short-term visitors and long-term residents gives the park a lived-in feel throughout.
Noise is the most consistent concern reviewers raise. The park sits with I-5 to one side and active train tracks on the other, and Matt B. notes directly: "If peace and quiet is what you are looking for, I would not suggest this campground." One reviewer counted 36 trains passing in a 24-hour period from a site close to the tracks. Requesting a spot toward the center of the property helps on both counts, putting some distance between the site and the loudest corridors.
The amenity list is substantial for a private RV park. A swimming pool, disc golf course, basketball hoops, volleyball court, playground, and laundry facilities are all on-site. Restrooms and showers draw consistent praise for cleanliness. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections accommodate RVs up to 100 feet. WiFi requires an additional purchase, and Verizon cell coverage has been reported as spotty despite the highway-adjacent location. Not every site has a fire pit, so campers who want one should request it at check-in.
Site quality varies noticeably depending on location within the park. Angela S. describes "many full timers w/park models and trailer/RVs sprinkled throughout the park," and sites along the perimeter tend to be more overgrown with aging infrastructure. Rates have climbed to over $70 per night for full hookups. Reservations are accepted and recommended during summer weekends, when the park fills quickly.
Campers wanting a quieter setup with fewer neighbors might consider Mt. St. Helens RV Park a few miles southeast, or Paradise Cove Resort and RV Park just east along the Toutle River corridor.
