Salmon la Sac Road Dispersed Camping

Multiple dispersed sites line Salmon la Sac Road through Wenatchee National Forest, with most positioned directly along the Cle Elum River. Campers can drive or walk to various spots scattered throughout this area, though vehicles with low clearance may struggle with the rocky, root-filled access roads that branch off the main route.

The river serves as the primary draw, offering easy access from nearly every camping spot. Emma C. notes there are "truly endless amounts of sites along this road- most along the river." During warmer months, the water level drops and slows, creating shallow pools where children can swim and play. Many visitors float downstream toward Cle Elum Lake, and the area sees regular river traffic on weekends.

Weekend crowds fill the most desirable riverside spots quickly, but weekdays offer more solitude and selection. Sites tucked further from the main road provide quieter nights away from the activity. Trees throughout the area work well for hammock setup, and the Forest Service allows campfires when burn bans aren't in effect. Outhouses are limited, so bringing supplies is essential.
