    Lake Erie Campground

    A really nice area to camp

    Behind the small well kept store is the lawned campground for tenters, or RVs. The flat area is well kept grass on the shoreline of Lake Erie and has a dock. New orange tables for each site. Looming across the road is wonderful Mt. Erie and the Anacortes Community Forest Lands with many trails for all levels. Trail maps online, and one can connect to a trail just walking a short bit. Mt Erie has a gorgeous view of the San Juans, Whidbey Island, Olympics, Cascades and eagles flying by. The south face has many rock climbs for all levels, even at least one 5.13! A noted area for newbies trying rock climbing, with someone to assist.

    There are basically no trees, but with the grass and sunshine, wonderful. Downtown Anacortes is about 10 minutes away. Scenic Deception Pass to Whidbey Island less than that, or a nearby trail makes a scenic hike to the bridge. A great place to explore so many things.

    Beware of the thiefs over there. I was camping just by the main 52 road, and somebody stole my sleeping bag, pillow and a coat. Don’t left ANYTHING in your tent if you leaving

    Clear Lake Military

    Family friendly spot for passing through

    We stayed here for just one night while driving through, but we would definitely stay again!

    The campsites don’t offer much privacy from your neighbors. The setup is more like a parking lot, with the sites backed up along the same edge and only a small amount of space between them. That said, the lake view is really nice.

    The park itself is great, with a playground, tetherball, and basketball court. We especially enjoyed the boat and gear rentals. The boats were clean, well-maintained, and in great condition. We stayed on a weekday, so the rentals were half price, which was a nice money saver. They also had inner tubes available at no extra charge to pull the kids behind the boat, which was a fun bonus!

    Our site had full hookups (water, sewer, and electric). There’s also a small restaurant on-site with affordable prices, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

    We paid $45 for one night with full hookups, which we thought was a great value. We would definitely stay here again!

    Mossyrock Park

    A favorite!

    I’ve been coming here since I was a kid with my parents, and now I visit regularly with my own kids. It’s honestly one of my favorite places to camp! I drive from Montana to visit once a year.

    This is a very family-friendly campground, and there are always lots of kids around. The main campground and S’mores Loop tend to be busier, with kids playing and people out and about. If you’re looking for a quieter site, I’d recommend staying up top in the Birds Eye area. Just keep in mind that there isn’t any shade up there, but if you have a pop-up canopy, you’re all set!

    The grounds are always clean, tidy, and well-maintained. The bathrooms are SO clean and always have plenty of hot water. We have a camper and still choose to shower in the campground bathrooms because they’re that nice! It is an older facility, and of course, it’s still a public bathroom, so I’d recommend shower shoes, but the staff does an amazing job keeping everything clean.

    You’ll constantly see staff cleaning, emptying trash bins, and taking care of the grounds. Whatever the management is doing here, they’re clearly doing something right. I wish more campgrounds were managed this way!

    There are lots of shaded campsites, nice playgrounds, disc golf courses, paved biking paths, a lake for swimming, a boat ramp, dump station, and plenty of guest parking. There’s something for everyone, especially families.

    I have AT&T cell service and had full bars/service in the Birds Eye area, which was a nice bonus.

    I highly recommend this campground and will definitely continue coming back with my family!

    Mt Baker Hwy gravel pull off. Free: April 1-Nov 1

    Good staging area for baker or shuksan

    A big open gravel pull out about the size of a football field maybe. It’s used as a Sno-Park in the winter and has a couple trailheads in the back. A couple cars pulled down the FS road labeled “ski” in the back so there may be more private sites down that road, but I don’t know firsthand.

    Tide pools up the road are great!

    Stayed in E13. It has a cute little private backyard. Short walk to the bathrooms. Clean park with nice beach views if you’re lucky enough to nab one of those spots, we weren’t.
