Breathtaking views!!

This place is absolutely amazing. The views are outstanding as well as not too much of a difficult hike to the top. A great place to stay!

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the Heybrook Lookout trail like to reach the camping area?

The Heybrook Lookout trail is a moderate 1.3-mile hike (one-way) with approximately 850 feet of elevation gain. While not overly difficult, it does require some effort, especially when carrying overnight gear. The trail winds through beautiful forest before reaching the lookout tower. Most hikers complete the ascent in about 45-60 minutes. The path is generally well-maintained and accessible for most skill levels.

How do I rent the Heybrook Lookout cabin for overnight camping?

Heybrook Lookout is available for overnight rentals through the USFS recreation.gov reservation system. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance, and the lookout is in high demand, especially during summer months. Overnight rates typically range from $75-100 per night. The lookout accommodates up to 4 people maximum. Be prepared to carry all your overnight gear up the trail, as there is no vehicle access to the lookout itself. Contact the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest office for current availability and reservation details.

What amenities are available at the Heybrook Fire Lookout?

Heybrook Fire Lookout offers basic amenities for an elevated overnight experience. The lookout features a small cabin at the top of a 67-foot tower with spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Inside, you'll find sleeping platforms, a table, chairs, and propane heating. There is no electricity, running water, or bathroom facilities at the lookout. Visitors must pack in all water needed for their stay and pack out all waste. The tower's large windows provide outstanding views in all directions, making this a unique wilderness accommodation.
