Spanish Oaks Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Paved road access leads up into the hills above Spanish Fork, where the city-managed Spanish Oaks Campground sits at an elevation that puts Utah Valley and the Wasatch Mountains in direct view from the campsites. Sites run $15-$40 per night with electric and water hookups available, making it workable for both tent campers and RVs. Reservations are accepted, which is worth noting for summer weekends. Cell service is available throughout.

The campground is built around Spanish Oaks Reservoir, and the layout gives campers a lot to work with at ground level. A paved path circles the reservoir, one end has a sandy beach, and a fish cleaning station sits on-site for anglers. The fish were reportedly biting well in recent visits. A playground sits close to the campsites above the water, and multiple restroom facilities are spread across the grounds, which reviewers consistently flag as clean and well-maintained. Mountain bike trails and access to the paved Spanish Fork River Trail round out the activity options.

One thing to know going in: this is not a remote setting. As Stephanie C. notes, "there is active development of homes in the immediate area," and the campground sits close to a suburban zone. That said, the elevation does deliver something at night that more isolated spots can't: a clear view down over the city lights. Campers who want more remote options can browse campgrounds near Spanish Fork for alternatives in the region. The season runs early April through late October, so aim for late spring or early fall to avoid peak summer crowds.

Spanish Fork campsite with view

Up in the hills, Spanish Oaks campground is not a typical campground. It’s close to a suburban area and there is active development of homes in the immediate area. It’s a very convenient location if you are passing through the area..

Perfect and cheap trip

Clean campground with plenty of activities for the whole family. We loved the views from out camp spot, seeing the sun come up and down over the big lake out in the distance as well as the res right under you was beautiful. Made it perfect for relaxing. Playground for the kids was fun and also sits above the res and close to the camp sites so its easy for your little ones to have their fun. Several awesome hiking trails. Fishings welcome and the fish were biting great too. There's even a fish cleaning station right there for you to use making it so convenient! Bathrooms were clean and there's multiple spread out so no worries about having to go to far to use them, for us was a plus as we have smaller kids! Camp sites sit up above the city so at night if you enjoy seeing and looking down on the city lights like i do then that's something to look forward to! The res has a sandy beach on one end of it and is cemented around the rest so walking around the entire body of water is super easy and fun!
