Grizzly Ridge Meadow Dispersed Area

An open meadow where an old ski rope tow once operated, Grizzly Ridge Meadow Dispersed Area sits along Forest Service Road 47D, a single-lane gravel route that requires careful navigation when meeting oncoming traffic. Campers set up around the tree edges that border this clearing, with a cell tower on the ridge above providing AT&T service but no Verizon or T-Mobile coverage according to recent visitors.

The US Forest Service maintains this as a true dispersed area with no developed amenities—no tables, vault toilets, trash collection, or drinking water. Electric hookups are available despite the dispersed designation. Campers must pack out all waste and bring their own water for extended stays in this section of dispersed camping near Ashley National Forest.

Nice open area dispersed

This open area is where there was an old rope tow ski area back in the day. This is in on FS Rd 47D and is a good gravel road but is really one lane. Lots of nice camping in the tree edges around this meadow area. Cell signal tower is up on the ridge above. I only had ATT signal, no Verizon or TMobile. No tables, no vault toilets, no trash dumpsters, no drinking water...this is a free dispersed area.
