Closed

We were hoping to camp here and got all the way to the left turn and sadly it was closed. If you follow the road to the right we find a good spot to camp right off the road to the right. There’s also another spot a little further down on the left. Hoping it will be back open soon so we can check this spot out, it is closed due to construction.

Breathtaking views

We tried to snag a spot up here when we came on our trip last year but was completely full. (Not many spots) would need to come on a week day early to grab a good spot. Best camping views I’ve seen so far this trip. Absolutely amazing

Great spot away from the herd

I went here in January and although a little snowy and muddy on the roads to get here I recommend if you have a 4x4 or and. There was about 4 sites from what I could see. Cell on Verizon was decent 4G LTE. There were two other campers that showed up late so relatively quiet area.

Winter no go

We intended to camp here the weekend of New Years but a winter storm moved in and the road was accumulating fast. We did park at the road and walk in to see it, the restrooms were well stocked but with 6” of snow and growing we weren’t confident enough to to stay in our Subaru Outback

Once you're there, you just want to stay there

We went to Porcupine Rim Campground (Dispersed) on Oct. 15, 21 - Oct. 17, 21. The road to get yonder is uphill and bumpy, rocky. If you have sedan car I'm quite sure you'll make it up near about 150 yrd outside of Porcupine Campground, because I have 2008 KIA Optima. We went in with Subaru Crosstrek and managed to get all the way into the Campground. Right by the Campground, there are some muddy spots/pools. Close by the entrance of the Campground, it's is pretty rocky and needs pretty good clearance vehicles, but our Subaru and other folks with Toyota 4runners and Jeeps made it up yonder. If you don't think you'll make it up next my the camping spot, there is a space for you to park down yonder 'fore the entrance, and you could take a hike! Ah, fun ain't it mate. It's beauty out there. It was quite dry/humid when we came in.

Camping, It was majestic! The views are gorgeous. Sunset and Sunrise were a beaut scene. All of the campgrounds are well maintained. The toilet is located maybe less then 100 yards from where we camping (Next by the drop off), and it's clean! When my mate and I stayed up yonder, it was quite windy and chilly. Fire pits are well maintained and clean. Plenty of campgrounds also, mate. You can find dead woods around outside of the campgrounds. PLEASE! keep the place clean when you're up there! Try not to make that beautiful place dirty. Practice Leave No Trace Behind, mate. Have a great trip up there, ya?! Cheers mates!

Great Campground

Segiun ( the Dog) and I were up there June 28, all by ourselves.....it was AWESOME. We drove in from the South what a beautiful drive. There are a lot of camp sites before you get to the real campsites and you do need a high clearance vehicle to get the last little bit. Yes it rained and hailed while we set up camp...but who cares. The views are spectacular the rain with the sunset you could ask for better. I was a bit nervous about he cliff and the dog, I had this image of him chasing a chipmunk or squirrel and going over the edge....it's one heck of a cliff! The morning light on Monument Valley is something to be experienced. Seriously great place. The toilet is a short walk and clean. We drove down into Moab and wished I was back up there the entire time, the amount of people was mind boggling. OH I forgot the stars...make sure you do a little star gazing.

Beautiful views

Kind of a pain to get to but absolutely worth it. Really beautiful view from the top… a there’s a toilet! Yay!

Watch out for the the sticky sap oozing from the trees, it gets on everything and won’t come out. And the bugs are pretty bad.

Best place you’ll ever camp!

Free campsite, about 45 min or so from Moab. We needed a 4 wheel drive to reach it. The map took us through this park for a while and we were skeptical, but the views were incredible and SO worth it!

Great free camping spot in Moab

About a 45 min drive from downtown Moab. Probably want 4WD. Bumpy road and a few tight turns but not too bad. Free camping spots up at the campground were great. We got there at 5 pm and found plenty of good places. Bathrooms available (not bad). Beautiful spot to watch the sun rise over the rim!!!

Views for Miles

So many camp sites. First come first serve. We camped on a Friday night there seemed to be tons to choose from. Views for miles. Mountain biking for miles. Must camp if you’re in Moab area. You need a 4x4 vehicle to access. ATV Trails too! This does cost but it’s worth every cent. Bathrooms were decent condition. Highly recommended.

Porcupine Rim Campground Moab

Dispersed camping with the best view I've ever seen. Even had clean vault toilet. There is a strict fire ban most of the time. It was about 40 minutes back to Moab because of the rough dirt road but we'll worth the drive.
