DON"T CAMP HERE

Campsites are to close, Camp host DO NOT keep the quite hours. Parties destroy the quite. Parties going until 2AM.
Actually not really sure what the camp host does, they started a leaf blower during morning quit hours ( I could stay home for that).

Saddle and Apache are nice with campsites further apart….but stay away from silver.
On a good note, if you are in Cloudcroft go to Mad Jacks BBQ…..the Beef Ribs are AWESOME, it is REAL TEXAS bbq.

Chorro Vista

We have recovered from our shake out trip to Big Bend Ranch State Park, Chorro Vista Camp Site. Yes we did a shake out in the most remote camp site, in the most remote State park in Texas. Texas Parks& Wildlife Dept calls this"the other side of No Where" and says bring TWO spare tires and they mean both. The 4x4 trail to get to the camp site was exhilarating, both the scenery and driving what they call maintained road. Want some real fun try the unmaintained 4X4 roads….we had a mountain goat tell us we were crazy for drive up there. If you care about your paint don't drive these roads, but if West Texas Pin Striping is a badge of honor this is for you. The Falcon Pro was awesome, if we would have had the old truck bed tent, it would have been in Mexico after the winds Friday night, as it was I was trying to figure out self rescue when the winds blew the truck over….but we made it. Then Saturday night the temps dropped to 15 degrees and us without a heater again did OK. We got some sleep Sunday night. The days were great some of the most rugged hiking ever…and the views, AMAZING. What a great experience, cant wait to get back out there.

Great Campground

Segiun ( the Dog) and I were up there June 28, all by ourselves…..it was AWESOME. We drove in from the South what a beautiful drive. There are a lot of camp sites before you get to the real campsites and you do need a high clearance vehicle to get the last little bit. Yes it rained and hailed while we set up camp…but who cares. The views are spectacular the rain with the sunset you could ask for better. I was a bit nervous about he cliff and the dog, I had this image of him chasing a chipmunk or squirrel and going over the edge….it's one heck of a cliff! The morning light on Monument Valley is something to be experienced. Seriously great place. The toilet is a short walk and clean. We drove down into Moab and wished I was back up there the entire time, the amount of people was mind boggling. OH I forgot the stars…make sure you do a little star gazing.

Best Tent site in Tompkins Bend #23

What a great site, the campground was FULL but we felt like we were isolated with a great view of the lake. Awesome site

Nice Campground but dont get #46 on C loop

The campground is nicely layout, but site #46 is tent only and a little postage stamp of a site with no privacy.

Beautiful but FULL

This is a beautiful area, and a great campground. Very Clean and very nice bathrooms. We had campsite 51 on D loop. Its on a hill so be careful but great access to the lake. The area was very crowded but still felt like we were out in no were. I would go back again but at  less busy time.
