    Recreation

Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake, covering 2,500 acres. It is famous for its 20-40 pound Mackinaw lake trout. Anglers also enjoy fishing for rainbow trout and splake. Boating, canoeing, swimming and scuba diving are popular activities. The 5-mile Pelican Canyon Trail begins in the campground. It leads through meadows and dense forests of spruce, pine and aspen as it climbs to the 11,633-foot Fish Lake Hightop. The popular Lakeshore National Recreation Trail extends around the eastern side of the lake. Hikers are rewarded with stunning lake views after climbing 900 feet in elevation.

    Natural Features

The campground sits at an elevation of 9,000 feet on a sagebrush-covered hillside above the valley floor, offering sweeping views of Fish Lake. Aspen and cottonwood trees forest the site.

    Nearby Attractions

Johnson Valley Reservoir is just north of Fish Lake, offering additional fishing and boating opportunities.

    Simple but Comfortable

No room in RV site for tent so moved to grassy tent site. Most sites appear to be occupied by long term rentals. Host was very friendly and helpful in accommodating my needs.

Great little spot near Capital Reef NP

Tranquil, don’t make the mistake of reaching over the fence to take a picture and accidentally touching the electric wire. It was literally the shock of my life lol.

    Thousand Lakes RV Park

    Great place to stay

This is a great little park with beautiful views and lots to do in the area. There is a restaurant on site, small park for the kids, basketball court and dog walk area. The sites are very close no privacy. There are two styles ld cabins. They sell wood and propane by the tank they do not fill tanks.

Electricity at site went off and on, but otherwise OK

We stayed in May 2023 and we were given a site all the way to the back. The view was pretty, the site was level, but when all the large RVs returned for the night, our electricity browned out and we couldn't run our AC. Our power also cut out during the night. The response from the management was, lets just say - unhelpful. Otherwise, it's a good location, the grounds are nicely maintained, the bathroom/showers were old, but they worked and had hot water. Unfortunately for us, we needed electricity for a CPAP, and our RV was 95 degrees inside, so for us, this campground gets two thumbs down.

    Interesting spot

Arrived too late to do hot springs so I’ll come back and check it out.

Bathrooms for women looked nice but men’s shower and bathrooms were a little rough. Could have been a bit cleaner.

There was a wash station that wasn’t working so I couldn’t wash dishes.

Not a lot of fires and a bit windy. Not too bad.

Full hookup for EV charge was great!

Dog loved the field area lots for him to sniff around.

    Off Season Camping

We came here to test out our new teardrop we bought from SLC. We wanted the electric hookup. We arrived during a snow storm, off season camping was first come first serve. We used the QR code to check in and pay. We were the only ones on the campground, so we took the campsite closest to the lake and the vault toilets (flush toilets were closed). The lake was beautiful and the campground was maintained nicely.

    Torrey UT

Wonderland was a great place to stay to visit Capitol Reef National Park. Only a few miles to the entrance. Park was clean and the town of Torrey was small but great. Our site was #5. Good amount of space but you are still close to your neighbors. FHUs, restrooms, showers, and laundry available. Apple trees are scattered throughout the campground. We ate dinner at a great food truck Capitol Burger in Torrey.

    A smaller and quiet KOA

General: A mix of FHU (most pull-thru but a few back-in), two tent areas, and three cabins.

Site Quality: All sites are level and gravel. Some sites have a brick patio that the picnic table sits on. As would be expected in an RV park, there is minimal separation between sites, however, when we were there on a weeknight in November, it was only about 25% full so it was not a problem.

Bath/Shower House: As we’ve come to expect in KOAs, the bathrooms and showers were very clean with soap and paper towels.

Activities/Amenities: The pool was closed for the season when we were there. There is a nice play structure, a basketball court, and a few other outdoor games. Amenities include a pool table, laundry facility ($2 each for wash and dry), fish cleaning station, pet area, and a small store open during business hours (9-5). The dishwashing sink appeared to be closed, perhaps for the season. There is free coffee in the morning.

This was just an overnight for us as we continued to head home after three months on the road so we were not looking for activities or amenities but appreciated that it was quiet.

    Great staff. Nice clean BR/SH/grounds

Setting is simple, nice and clean. Staff was extremely helpful. Located on Highway 24. This is a dark sky community, so it was hard to see the signage, but worth the trouble. Nice enough Mexican restaurant next-door.

DON'T PREPAY UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOOSE IT.

We rented 2 sites for 2 nights. When we arrived they were taken. Half of our party had to go elsewhere because there was only 1 site left. The host frankly doesn't appear to be capable of doing his job. Manager refused to refund if. Never again. POOR MANAGEMENT! Prepay at your own risk.

    Unique stay

The campground was simple, but nice. The showers were not individual, but they were hot and clean. The buses were very unique and gave the campground a fun “hippie” vibe. The hot springs themselves were nice and relaxing.

    Sevier River RV Park

    Relaxing stay

We stayed here two nights in our class C while slowly making our way across the country. The park is reasonably large. We had no problems getting a spot here. Sites are gravel, level and well maintained. Most are pull through. Hookups are in excellent condition. Neighbors could be a little close if the place is full. Sites did not included a table, but there was plenty of room to set up outside. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

There is a fishing pond that was also home to geese, ducks and other birds. A river runs along two sides of the park. There is also an enclosure containing chickens and turkeys. The office provided food so our 3 year year old granddaughter could feed those birds. The office also contains a lounge area with TV and games. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Showers and a laundry are available, though we did not use them. I did not notice propane being available.

Fremont Indian State Park is nearby. We found this to be a very interesting park to see petroglyphs and rock art, along with some examination of cultures and explorers. There is also easy access to hundreds of miles of off-road trails and hiking trails.

The RV park is conveniently located near the highway, but not too close. There was very little highway noise. The park was quiet and peaceful, though you could wake to the geese if you choose a spot close to the pond.

We had 3 bar LTE with Verizon. I was able to use my hotspot, though had trouble posting on Facebook later in the day.

This was a very nice place to stay while traveling. It seems to be worth a few days if you are looking to relax. We will stay again when traveling this way.

    Nice facilities & cute place

Just like the title says, the bathrooms and showers were very nice and even though the sites were close, there were privacy fences put up. Only problem was the place said it was open and when we tried to go in the office it was closed. Just stayed there for one night and it was around $30, a little pricey but we didn’t have any where else to crash. It was a solid place. Probably better for glamping purposes.
