High-clearance vehicles are required here, and that requirement is not a suggestion. Horse Canyon Camping sits roughly 250 yards off the main road on BLM land outside Boulder, with room for what appears to be one established spot, possibly more further back. No cell service reaches the site, there are no trash facilities, and trailers and RVs are not suitable given the tight clearance. A free permit is technically required and can be picked up at the visitor center in Escalante. Campfires and pets are allowed. This spot makes sense for self-sufficient campers in capable rigs who don't mind packing out everything they bring in, including others' litter.
