My InBetween Stop

I stayed here one night while traveling from Vail, CO to Zion National Park. No Services around (except 1 toilet), but a beautiful open landscape with sweeping views. I parked along the lake, and marvelled as the night sparkled. I believe most rigs can access this location (all flat).

I believe it was 3hrs to Zion (probably the same if you wanted to drop down into Bryce) This was definitely off the "beaten path". Very few vehicles were passing on Route 72 (runs south from I-70).

Quite Spot

Stayed here mid week in July. Had the whole place to ourselves, aside from a few folks who were fishing. Water levels were low and there was a good amount of algae. We counted 3-4 dispersed sites, but set up camp to the left of the boat ramp. There are a few OHV trails in the area. Looking at the other reviews, we didn't see any mice.

Beautiful area

Simple little spot beside a charming lake nestled among the mountains in fishlake national forest. There’s 3-4 sites and a bathroom towards the end of a short gravel road off 72. a couple potholes, but any car should make it in.

Saw a couple trucks stop by (to fish?) but had the whole place to myself after sunset. Got a little chilly, even snowed a bit but it’s at 8000 ft in april so what would u expect.

Stopped here on my way to capitol reef after a 9 hour (breathtaking) drive, was very relaxing.

Quiet place to camp along Hwy 72

We were there 10/11/2020 during hunting season It was around 20° the night we stayed. This is a free campground for hunters or for the few people traveling on highway 72. There was a clean vault toilet and rock fire rings but no water, garbage, or picnic table. There could be fishing there as we saw lots of fish jump.

It is a scenic quiet place and the night skies are phenomenal. There is mouse infestation there as the first site we stopped at had dead mice everywhere. One got in our camper but we soon chased it out, The USFS person who cleaned the vault toilet confirmed this.

I rated it 3 stars due to mouse problem otherwise it would be 4 stars.

It opens in May but their website didn’t say which date. I am assuming this depends on the snow level at 8000’. It was still open when we camped in October.
