Beautiful spot with some views of the lake. No services, but had cell service (CC). I drove in from the south access to High Valley rd. The road was challenging. It was steep with loose dirt in spots. It was an adventure. I am going to try north access into Lucerne later. (See Google for more info)
I stayed here one night while traveling from Vail, CO to Zion National Park. No Services around (except 1 toilet), but a beautiful open landscape with sweeping views. I parked along the lake, and marvelled as the night sparkled. I believe most rigs can access this location (all flat).
I believe it was 3hrs to Zion (probably the same if you wanted to drop down into Bryce) This was definitely off the "beaten path". Very few vehicles were passing on Route 72 (runs south from I-70).
Nice flat spots along the Scenic Bypass road (not just where the map says). More secluded spots up the hill. The dirt hill road is fairly decent, but no medium+ to large rigs.
5 minutes into Mammoth town. 30 mins to Route 120 west turn, that takes you into Yosemite (tioga pass). I enjoyed a week's stay here. Negatives? Poor and spotty cell. A lot of airborne dirt when dirtbikes, and ATV's are active on weekends.
I would return to this enjoyable spot.
