Elk Mountain Road

I went to visit and camp near Natural Bridges National Monument during a flood warning for the area-this spot on Elk Mtn Rd turned out to be a great location being in an elevated position far above potential flood issues, and has a nice view to the west. The campsite is spacious and has an established rock fire ring on the west side. It is in the vicinity of trees, but does not have tree cover, and is just off the road a few feet. The lack of traffic up this road makes up for that. Great home base for accessing Bears Ears or the Natural Bridges, and close enough to the visitor center to refill water or utilize bathrooms if needed. This spot is easy to access even in inclement weather and would not be difficult even for larger vehicles. It rained the whole time I was there but due to the elevated location all the runoff was away from the campsite.
