Part of the Bureau of Land Management's Monticello Field Office territory, this dispersed camping area occupies an abandoned airstrip directly adjacent to Route 95. The paved runway surface accommodates large RVs without difficulty, while pull-off spots tucked into surrounding trees provide options for smaller rigs seeking more privacy. A newer county building sits in the middle of the strip, with usable camping areas extending on both sides.
Campers report minimal road noise despite the highway proximity. The location serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby Pueblo ruins and provides access to camping near BLM Land — Monticello Field Office throughout the region. Self-contained units work best here, as no services are available on-site.
