Awesome Spot, Bad Crowd

This spot is great if you are day-tripping to Zion. Easy to get to, right off the highway, near Cedar City, and a creek right next to it to cool off in. HOWEVER, it appears that about half the spots are occupied by drifters/homeless people that have set up a semi-permanent residence. We were the only ones there that actually looked to be “camping” the 2 nights that we stayed.

Hard to maneuver and hard to find.

I pulled into the area thinking it opened up in the back and it doesn't. I had to do a 1000 point turn to get my truck turned around with a small river feet away. It doesn't look like anyone is maintaining the area. Wouldn't fit more than one rig from what I saw. The Walmart in Cedar City allows overnight camping. I would go there instead.

No service for att and Verizon

Came here after coal creek was full. Similar layout. Rough roads found a little secluded area beside the river. Would come back but didn’t like the sketch feel of no cell service.

Riverside campsite

Pulled in let at night, there were other people camping there but they were out of the way a bit. It’s not directly on the riverbank but from certain camping spots, you can see the river and it’s about 20-30 feet away. Would’ve given it more stars but it was a bit odd cause it looked like someone was kind of living there, and there was a ranger who came over and knocked on our window at 7am saying that they just had to do a special check up on everyone. Other than that though it was a nice place to camp, especially with the sound of the river rushing at night.

Got stuck

Not a bad spot near a stream, off the highway, but our 2WD van got stuck in the mud and had to be towed out

A hit or miss.

Plenty of room to camp...if you can find a road in. Coal creek is fed by snow melt and dosen't always run all year long. This can be a great spot..if your lucky.

Pretty gnarly

Easy to miss pulloff and extremely rough road. I was able to get a 24ft class C up and off the road a bit but was definitely nerve racking. Didn't look like there were more than 2 or 3 spots but we didn't go too far back because of the road.

Great last minute find

After letting the sun get too far down and not being able to find many places to go in a pinch, this actually worked out in our favor. Bummer, it’s right off the highway, but late at night it’s pretty quiet. Just have to checkout all the pullouts for a walking trail down to a camping spot. Not too shabby.

Camping off 14

It’s a neat area. You just pull of the side of the road anywhere and camp. There are a few dirt road pull offs that will get you further away from 14 but we saw a bunch of people having campfires just on the side of the road. We took one of the dirt road pull offs and found a nice spot.

Great for Dirtbagging!!!

Quiet tent/truck camping. Not far from Cedar City (15min). Medium cell signal on T-Mobile. Right off of highway but plenty of tree cover to dampen road noise. Waterfall and creek noise to lull you to sleep. Large dirt parking area. Dispersed tent sites or truck bed/van life in the dirt lot. Go slow going in, pot holes and rocks. Two entrances both from highway. 4-star only because local kids use this as their bonfire/drinking spot and as such tend to make late night noise.

Great For a Cedar Breaks Adventure!

Easy to access dispersed campground. Coal Creek is a convenient site to stay in if you're checking out Cedar Breaks.

There are quite a few spots suitable for setting up camp and you've got some tree cover to help insulate you from 14. Watch for the pretty big potholes that you'll want to take slow when you first come in if you have a low clearance vehicle but otherwise it's a really solid campground.

Easy to Find off the Road

We needed a spot not too high in elevation (there was still snow) and right off the road so we could just pack up in the AM and get going.

It was easy to set up and was far enough off the road where we didn't hear the loud trucks passing by. Easy to get to Cedar Breaks from there. Just up the road you can see the overlook of Zion, which was super cool!

I wouldn't camp here in the rain, it seems easy to flash flood through this canyon.
