Arch Campground — Kodachrome Basin State Park

Overall, this campground was worth the inconveniences of no sewage hookups, and excessive dust and dirt…but we certainly had to be conservative with our water usage more than usual here! They do have some very nice showers near one of the other campgrounds that we utilized since we did not want to fill up our gray water tank too quickly The site we stayed on, also had pretty uneven sand ground so we had to be very creative with our jacks and had to use cinderblocks under some of them to achieve a level spot. Overall, great place- we e-biked all over the grounds and the views are absolutely gorgeous- also- not far at all from Bryce Canyon, which is also a must! 😍

So many state parks get overlooked, and with Bryce only 20 miles away, I imagine Kodachrome Basin is one of those. Do not miss this one however, it's amazing. The Basin campground is what you should book--great views, wonderful showers, etc--but Arch campground was nice too. A handful of hikes within the park and beautiful, quiet serenity.

Utah State Parks near National Parks are hidden gems. They’re dog friendly unlike National Parks and like Kodachrome, share a lot of the beauty but without the crowds.

There are plenty of hikes for all levels here.

We spontaneously decided to see if there were any openings at the visitor center and got the last dry camping spot in an overflow area. It was fine for a night.

Vault toilets are spotless. Water is available at campsites and there are many fhu sites. Super quiet and peaceful.

Your camp fee includes admission fee not the park. There’s no cell in the park but the wifi at the visitor center is some of the best we’ve experienced in a very comfortable setting— babbling water feature, swinging lounge chairs and a gas pit fire.

A real hidden gem. We took a hook up site. The showers are at the Basin Camp but can be used and there is a coin operated Laundromat too, which is a real saviour. Great dark skies and wildlife abounds.

Stayed in spot#51 in Arch Campground with water/electric hookup. Showers only available in Basin and Oasis group sites, which are down the dirt road to the main road and then further into the park from where we stayed (not walkable). Showers were good though, free and unlimited time. Took a trip over to check out Bryce View and sites 53, 57 and 59 were best. Site mostly level, has interesting views of surrounding natural features. Only one toilet bldg and it's at the entrance so not particularly convenient. 

Food aside: Had dehydrated egg with chorizo, bacon, hash brown and cheese on hatch tortillas, mmm.

$45 (not $35). Need to reserve ahead. Very busy (memorial weekend).Water and electricity. Large picnic table. Stayed in site A50. Trees separate most sites. We had a nice view of mountain. Showers are in basin campground (non in arch) but heard the showers are amazing.

This was the first developed campground I ever stayed at and I was very nervous about noise and privacy. All of those worries faded away as I drove into Basin campground. It is perfect. I barely noticed my neighbors and wanted for nothing. Amazing showers, clean flush toilets and sinks with running water, a dishwashing station and drinking water located throughout the campground. Worth every penny. The sites off the main road are perfect for big rigs, while the sites further in were perfect for tents and van campers.

Sites are large and fairly private, views were spectacular with some amazing sunsets. The Basin campground down the road had paved spaces with full hookups and would have been a bit more convenient but the spaces were close together.

This campsite was a good one! Has three different camping areas that are really spacious. Some amazing hikes with amazing rick formations and horse rides as well. They have upgraded showers that are better then my own at home. But it’s only at one of the sites. Love seeing the cows roam free in the town right before the campground. Family friendly and even offers bunkhouses!

What an awesome weekend at this Campground. Although the campground was full, it was so quiet and peaceful. The hiking around the park are wonderful and we barely saw anyone (which was good because we went there to Social Distance!). Clean restrooms, clean campground. Camp hosts were wonderful and quite nice. If you are looking for a place to getaway, and enjoy seeing awesome stars at night/incredible scenery during the day, then this is your place.

Just as a heads up, no cell service here at all. I didn't mind, but coming home to 168 emails was a bit of a shocker. There are some sites with full hookups, some with just water and power, and some standard sites. There are multiple campgrounds here as well.

We visited March 20-22, 2020. It did get a little cold at night, but in our Motorhome, it was quite comfy for me and my family.

Kodachrome was such a great experience! The park was so clean and the bathrooms were so nice very resort like. There's quite a few trails close by, plenty of beautiful scenery all around. I'd definitely recommend this park, cant wait to go back!

This is s very clean and updated campground. If you like a remote campground this is it.

Very clean, quiet campground hidden outside of Bryce Canyon National Park. 5 stars all around

This campground has nice spacious sites with some trees and a little distance between sites so you don’t feel like you are camping on top of the next campsite. The bathrooms are nicer than motel rooms! The staff are great and friendly. The only negative is if they charge for a second vehicle. Most state parks charge half of the campsite fee, yet this place charges $16 for one extra vehicle per day, and campsites are $20 a site for tent campers. That’s a little extreme but the campground is worth it.

I stayed in a tent site. Can hike right from campground.
