Clear Spring offers full hookup sites for RVs up to 85 feet alongside water and electric sites, with reservations available through the Army Corps of Engineers system. The campground operates within Wright Patman Recreation Area, featuring multiple loops with different site configurations and access options including drive-in, walk-in, and boat-in sites.
The layout includes lakeside sites in Loop B that face Wright Patman Lake directly, while interior loops D and E provide full hookups with sewer connections in forested settings. Roger W. notes the campground "seems peaceful" and "looks to be a good fishing and water sport area." Site spacing varies between loops, with lakeside positions offering more room while interior sites sit closer together. Several reviewers mention occasional sewer odors when wind conditions shift, though this doesn't affect all areas consistently.
Wright Patman Lake provides fishing and swimming opportunities directly from the campground. The concrete boat ramp allows easy water access for kayaking and other watercraft. Campers frequently spot deer throughout the grounds, particularly near dawn and dusk. Cell service runs limited with Verizon showing 1-2 bars in most areas. The campground includes clean restroom facilities, a dump station, and allows campfires and pets.
Loop B sites numbered 1 through 14 receive the highest praise from visitors for their lake views and spacing. Sarah C. describes the facility as "very clean and well kept" with "tons of lake view camping spots." Full hookup sites require longer sewer hoses due to rear-positioned connections. The campground maintains moderate usage levels during weekdays but fills more completely on weekends, particularly in spring and fall seasons.
Clear Spring works well for RV campers seeking lake access with full amenities and anglers looking for convenient boat launching, though those wanting significant site privacy should request lakeside positions over interior loops.
