Pickled Pelican RV Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Holly Beach sits along Louisiana's Gulf Coast, and Pickled Pelican RV Park puts campers directly on the edge of it. Concrete pads run throughout the property, keeping sites level regardless of weather. The layout divides into two distinct sections: twelve sites closest to the water, each covered by a metal roof pergola with lighting, a large picnic table, and a grill, and eight additional sites across the street that lack the covered tables but include full hookups. Four of those secondary spots are configured as buddy sites, with hookups positioned so two rigs can park camp-side facing each other.

Full hookups are the draw here. Water, sewer, and electric connections are available at every site, and reviewers consistently note the infrastructure is well maintained. Richard S. sums it up plainly: "Full hookups and a nice quiet beach without a ton of tourists." The Gulf is a short walk from the sites. The sand runs notably soft, and the beach sees lighter foot traffic than more developed stretches of the coast. Trash disposal requires a short drive rather than on-site drop-off.

Supply planning matters here. Holly Beach has no convenience stores or gas stations following hurricane damage, and the nearest grocery, fuel, and general merchandise are roughly 20 minutes north in Hackberry. Cameron, to the east, requires a ferry crossing that is not always in service. Campers considering places to camp near Holly Beach will find a handful of nearby options, including Holly Beach RV Park and Holly's Beach. Reservations open two weeks in advance; arriving with a full tank and stocked cooler is strongly advised.

Hidden gem w/ quiet, close beach!

Loved our time at the Pickled Pelican. Hosts very communicative & helpful. $75 did seem a bit high since there are no amenities, but the beach is close, clean, & quiet! Very soft sand compared to Galveston. Concrete pads & full hookups. Trash has to be driven about 2-3 min away.

Great spot on a rare Louisiana Beach

I have camped with friends numerous times at the Pickled Pelican. March 2024 was my first trip with my own camper. The RV spots are all level concrete in excellent condition. There are twelve spots as close to the beach as you can get, with a covered picnic table and grill. There are also 8 spots that do not have the covered picnic tables, across the street from the cabana sites. Four of those are set up to be used as buddy sites where two RVs can park with their camp sides facing each other and have no problems reaching hookups. Water/sewer/electric hookups are all well maintained. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Ice, bait, and some seafood is available in Holly Beach. No convince stores or gas stations thanks to hurricanes. Closest grocery store, gas/diesel, and general merchandise is in Hackberry, 20 minutes north. There is a convenience store a little closer in Johnson Bayou to the West, as well as in Cameron to the East. Going to Cameron requires crossing via a ferry, not always in service.

Awesome views of the Gulf.

Great spot on the Gulf of Mexico. The sites have full hookups and are level, and best of all on the beach. This is not a typical RV park as there are no amenities. As of this date rates are $70 a night. One of the best things is there is a gazebo at the back of the site, with a light. I am from the east side of Louisiana and did not know there was a beach in Louisiana.

Sitesites are not numbered. First come first pick.

Beachfront on a perfect beach

The area was ravaged by the fall hurricanes, so almost no stores, restaurants or gas stations are to be found within 15 miles..... so get everything you need before you get here, cause once you're here you have no reason to leave, if you're here for beach.

You'll get greeted by a southern gentleman, who's familiar with the area, there is full hookups, water, electric and sewage literally right on the beach.

As of today (you can see the date I post this) our last night here before we head east on our trip, the area is still cleaning up and rebuilding from the storms. Don't let that scare you off.... it's amazing. The sand is so soft and the site is amazing!!!

Quiet and Friendly

This is a new RV campground on Holly Beach. Level campsites, on thick concrete. Sites one through eight have beautiful metal roof pergolas, with lighting and a large square picnic table with 4 benches. Also has a good sized grill and electric hookups. We were in site 8 at the end with beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and marshland! Our site was large enough to have a full size F250 and our 32 foot camper! If we had a boat or golf cart, there was room for that as well. Full hookups with new connections. They only make reservations 2 weeks ahead and sites are first come first serve. Check in is at noon, but if there's a site available before then, you are welcome to it. The owner was helpful and super sweet! The gulf Beach is easily accessible by a 5 minute or less walk, or by golf cart or vehicle. We will definitely return! Open year round.
