About Allen Springs Campground

Like the other campgrounds on the Metolius, Allen Springs is located amongst towering Ponderosa Pines, on a turn of the Metolius River that broadens the river view. Most of the campsites are better suited to tents rather than RV's.

This campground offers many opportunities for hiking and biking with the many trails nearby. The ponderosa pine forest provides shade as well as the chance to go bird or nature watching.

This facility has 16 sites that are nestled along the Metolius River. The circular shape of the campground means most of the campsites are better suited to tents rather than RVs. Allen Springs is a No Water campground so campers will need to bring their own supply. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. We do have vault toilets onsite There is also a small picnic area onsite.

5 Reviews of Allen Springs Campground

Clean and quiet. Many sites along the beautiful Metolius River. A few incredible tent sites with lots of privacy. There’s no water, but campsites with water are nearby.

Perfect tent camping

Very nice campground. The river at night is so peaceful. We camped in the tent only spot at the end and was surrounded by water. The toliets were clean and there are fire pits. I will definitely be camping here again!

Serene - Fly fisherman's dream

This is by far our favorite campground in the area. When we lived in Portland we'd come here 3-4 times a year for a long weekend to escape the city. The river is beautiful and mesmerizing, the campground is simple (we LOVE the walk-in sites), it is set back from the road, thus traffic noise is less than at some of the other campgrounds. Also less likely to have gigantic RVs and their generators run next to you, as the sites are small.

No water (the well has been out the entire 10 years we've been coming here)

Love hiking along the river to the fish hatchery.

Fly fisherman's dream!

Beautiful, spacious sites along the Metolius River. Large enough to set up 2 tents, and I believe all sites have river access. Incredibly peaceful, close to the Camp Sherman store for supplies. Wood available for purchase at the camp host. A few negatives, no privacy from your neighbor, you can only fly fish here, no river access for swimming.

Beautiful River Location in a rustic campground

There are several National Park owned campgrounds along the Metolius River this one might be the the prettiest view in my opinion. It's on a bend in the river and still 20 minutes to the town of Sisters.

If you would like to be closer to town the Allingham Campground on the river is only 10 minutes to town. The sites at Allingham are more suited for RV's and trailers if you are traveling big. Allen Springs has some easy pull in car camping spots and some walk in tent sites. It's located on a bend in the river so the view of the river is stunning. We even saw painters set up along the river to capture it's beauty.

The campground itself is somewhat primitive like other National park sites. Pit toilets but no water.
