Haystack Reservoir Campground

Haystack Reservoir Campground is located in Central Oregon, approximately 10 miles south of Madras. To reach the campground, take Highway 97 south from Madras, then follow the signs for Haystack Reservoir. The turnoff will direct you to the campground area. The reservoir is a popular destination for fishing and water recreation in the high desert landscape. The road access is generally good, though some sections might be less maintained than others. Consider bringing a map or having directions downloaded before arriving, as cell service can be spotty in this rural area.

Haystack Reservoir Campground typically operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted at this location. During peak summer weekends and holidays, arriving early is recommended to secure a spot. The campground can fill up quickly, especially during fishing season when the reservoir is popular.
