Cozy little park

It’s a small campground but very cozy, cute and clean. Check in was easy with a friendly lady who gave us names of best restaurants and what do do while here. We were shown to our site by a very nice gentleman. We had a beautiful roomy spot by the pond and that is close to a shelter with picnic tables. People were friendly in the park. It was tight to get down the roads leading to our spot but navigational if you went slow. It’s a very small town with not much to do but the people are very friendly. Would stay again!

Good Travel Stop

We stayed here for a couple of nights while touring the nearby Shiner brewery and the historic old churches in the area.  The sites are small, and there are many full timers in the park, but there are several sites available for short term travelers.   Many folks use this as a travel stop.  The owners are very nice and helpful, and give good advice on things to do in the area.  The campground is within walking distance to downtown, which offers a few pretty good restaurants.  It is also walking distance to Whataburger and a couple of other restaurants.  It is right off the interstate, but we really weren't bothered by highway noise. This is a really good travel stop and we will likely stay here again when we're passing through the area.  I'll post a few pics of the things to see and do in this area.

5 Star Service with cute older site

A lot of places you come across when passing from place to place that are a bit older are in need of repair and a little TLC, but this place has all the TLC you could ask for under one roof so to speak.

I was greeted by the most friendly lady in the office who not only assisted me with finding a space for my evening but also with navigating this amazingly cute community. A small German and Czech community there are so many places to visit including. Polka Hall of Fame and a cute downtown corridor with numerous shops and points of interest.

I can see this is typically more of an RV site however they do have accommodations for tents which are quite nice. I will say I was a little concerned based on their web presence, which does the site itself no justice at all.

The site includes tv connections and internet as well as private restrooms which have their own showers instead of a combined shower and restroom common house combo like many. This made for a nice experience which more closely resembled getting ready at home the next morning. In addition there was a laundry available.

I chose to walk to a Czech bakery nearby and had some of the best baked goods ever including kolaches!! I also checked out the Polka Hall of Fame just for giggles!! (Chicken Dance anyone?)

  • Downtown has a historical museum and polka museum near side by side and thanks to the amazing lady in the office I found both of these and had a great day seeing some things otherwise I would have missed!!
