Tubing, fishing, and campfire nights on the Colorado River draw campers to River Forest Haven in Manor, Texas, where wooded sites sit close enough to the water that river access shapes the whole experience. Sites numbered 30 through 50 are set back from the river and get the job done, though some lack fire pits and tables. River-facing sites fill up fastest for a reason. The campground runs nightly rates from $22 to $60, accommodating tents, vans, and RVs with electric and water hookups, though at least one recent visitor reported not locating the hookup connections on site.
The forested layout means some spots feel tucked away while others sit more exposed, and site assignment is first-come, first-served rather than reserved, so self-contained campers who leave for the day risk returning to find their spot taken. Road noise from a nearby road carries into the campground, but reviews consistently note the nights stay relatively quiet otherwise. Light pollution is low enough that the night sky draws attention. Staff deliver firewood on request for $15, and the dry wood arrives in generous quantities.
Tubing on the Colorado runs a short route, well-suited to families with younger children, though reviewers note the river runs deep in sections and water safety matters. Fishing rounds out the on-water options. Garfield RV and Campground and Tiny T Ranch are among the nearby alternatives for campers comparing campgrounds near Manor. River Forest Haven works best for campers who prioritize water access and wooded surroundings over polished amenities or guaranteed site consistency.
Description
River Forest Haven is a unique space that seeks to bring you closer to nature. We do not artificially light the camp and we strive to leave as much of the property in its natural state as we can. This provides a unique experience that is not your typical campground as we keep all of our campsites tucked under lush natural canopies. Car and tent camping works great! For most sites, you can easily drive up to your spot. Arrive, take a look around and settle into your site. We are always happy to deliver any of our items from our general store- just message us or give us a call and we will come by.
With nearly half a mile of Colorado riverfront to swim, fish, toob, paddle-board, kayak, and canoe*, along with 30 acres to hike and explore, River Forest Haven is also a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Austin.
River Forest Haven is the perfect place to unplug and get back to nature. Finally, a place where being disconnected is actually a good thing.
