    Sad broken down campground.

This used to be a great place to camp but it's not kept up. Hot tub didn't work, hot water didn't work and staff lies to you. Find somewhere else to go.

    Great Place, Great People!

I have stayed here for work a total of 8 nights in the last few months. Pros: Clean and well maintained, They are a pool and a hot tub, super easy on and off the freeway, lots of trees, Great people! Cons: pay before you arrive and charge extra for using a credit card and a bit noisy if you are on the freeway end of the park.

What an amazing place. Beautiful Lake and Beach.

We went there for the first time and were amazed to discover such an awesome place, only 20 minutes from our new home in Houston.

The staff was great and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. They have an indoor and an outdoor hot tub that overlooks the lake.

    We had so much fun.

It was surprisingly affordable as well.

    We will definitely return.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for an awesome resort close to Houston.

Nice, friendly, clean, and convenient campground will visit again

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The setting is peaceful and convenient. Our site was right in the stock pond. It seems the campground is mostly full time residents which isn’t bad. We wished there were more amenities as it’s a Holiday site. The pool was nice and the hot tub. Our kids were disappointed that there was no bounce pillow as it was damaged. We will still visit this location again when visiting friends. The staff was super friendly and very attentive.

    Our favorite TX Thousand trails!

This has got to be one of the best campgrounds! We stay here every time we pass through Texas. The campground is huge and offers so many great amenities. People are always super friendly. We have made the most connections of any stay at this campground because of it. I always want to get one of the paved sites at the front because they look so nice! But they are usually taken. It’s so great having an Amazon hub locker right next to the campground as well! You can take your kayak right on to the lake from the access area on the campground. Bathrooms are nice and clean. And the pool / hot tub are open until 11pm which is rare for Thousand Trails!

    Needs Some TLC

This place is very nice, but no one is enforcing the rules. Dogs being walked with no leashes, and not picking up behind them. 9 year olds driving golf carts with the adults on the back. Kids in hot tub, even diapered babies, and I saw an offensive flag flying. All of these have rules against them at the park, but I saw no one patrolling the park to enforce any of it! They need to pave the roads, it's so full of potholes and uneven pavement very rough to drive. There's a very small section of paved sites. The rest is on uneven graveled ground and so close together I couldn't walk between our site and the RV parked next to us. Sites NOT assigned, we were told to go find a spot, then come back and tell them what spot we were in. It was so crowded that this process took us about 45 minutes to do. Then go back and get the parking passes for the park. If not for all that I would have given this park 5 stars.

    Really Nice Cabins

I have stayed in the cabins here four or five times. The first two years we had smaller groups so we stayed in the A Frame cabins. The last three years we've had their biggest one. There is a creek that runs through it and it is never over populated while I've been here. The cabin we've used was flooded and has not been rebuilt so we are looking for other places to hold our Spring Camp out. I hope they rebuild.

    Amazing

Thia camp ground is owned and managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife. It is well maintained and kept. The RV camp sites are plenty big and the tent sites are big enough to pitch the large multi person cabin tents. The fishing is a amazing and the store is cool.

    Park hosting

My wife and I have been park hosts here at Martin Dies jr state park for 3 months now. We have been coming here for years. The park has around 200 rv, tent sites, and cabins ( 3 cabins have a/c ). They have trails and rent kayaks and canoes. Plenty of Wildlife like deer, raccoons, gray foxes, birds and of course gators.

    Martin Dies State Park

This is a huge campground with many sites being on the water and the rest being close to it. If you’re here for boating or fishing, like most people, you can get a campsite near a boat launch. The campgrounds are all very wooded and shady, though some spots don’t feel very private. They have a lot of sites with electricity and there are lots of bathrooms and shower houses. So while it’s crowded and large, it’s well laid out and still feels like you’re really close to nature. They also have a bunch of cabins and screened mini-cabins you can rent to ease the bug situation...which was pretty intense. The mini-cabins were very cute and look relatively new, but we didn’t stay there. You can walk along some trails straight from your campsite. Bring a kayak, canoe, or boat and you’ll have a great weekend here.

Eh, not exactly Lake Conroe Views

This KOA does have a lake, or rather a retention pond, but don’t mistake the name for this campground actually being on or near Lake Conroe, it’s off a busy highway in the city of Conroe but not on the lake. Typical KOA amenities plus a number of cabins.

    Great Campground!

This is the same as the “Indian Village Campground” also listed on the map. This is a great place. My family has been camping here in tents, RVs and cabins for more than 15 years. Some fairly recent upgrades to the bathrooms and showers have made it much nicer! We’ve always had a good time here and made lots of happy memories! Staff is very friendly.

    Great place...bad drainage

We loved our visit to Martin Dies! Coming from Houston it wasn't a long drive, and we enjoyed the greenery. The day we went, we were literally the only people there. I think this place is a bit of a hidden gem. Our cabin was very nice and spacious and air conditioned. There is fishing and a playground and bathrooms close by. The downside? It rained really hard and the whole place flooded up. Huge pools of water everywhere. We ended up leaving early because of it. But besides that, awesome spot!

    Swampy kingdom

We have passed this place several times on trips to other places and finally decided to check it out the first of Nov. We rented a small rustic shelter / cabin. Essentially a slab walls roof with a heater and ac. It did also have a picnic table inside. It was actually perfect for my family of 3. This park was very quiet and was abundant with wildlife. We seen dear, armadillo, racoon, and a fox all close to our site. There were many trails to hike and the park a tally spans two sides of the highway be sure to explore both. This was a great camp for us and we will definitely visit again.

    Swampy

Beautiful park but so many bugs. Did some canoeing, hiking and bird watching. A good park to get away from the city. The landscape is swampy but it was beautiful in its own way. A very good campground to see stars at night. It gets pitch black. Restrooms are very clean and the rangers are very helpful and nice.

    Very well kept TT campground

The campground is well laid out. Easy access to sites, amenities and the Lake. Although its a small portion of the lake on the campgrounds side, you do have access to boat rentals,  a boat launch and plenty of parking. So if you have a boat, it will be a wonderful experience. Plus there is a beach area for families to enjoy.

The cottages look almost brand new. The campground even has a location to wash your RV or vehicle.

Nice Weekend Getaway. Good for Families

We camped here for a long weekend getaway.  The park is a little over an hour north of Houston and easy to get to.  We did not have a lakefront site, but we had a really good view of the lake.  The full hookups were great and included cable tv.  The park was a bit crowded for the weekend, with a lot of kids running around and riding bikes.  There is a small swimming beach as well as a nice area for fishing.  The park has a restaurant, which we went to for homemade pie!

Hidden gem only two hours from Houston

This park is a great option for those looking for a spot not too far from Houston, but less busy than other parks such as Huntsville State Park, etc. that are a little closer to Houston. It’s also a nice option for those wanting to visit Big Thicket, but seeking a less primative camping experience (the Big Thicket National Preserve has primitive camping only).

Most of the campsites have enough trees to set up a hammock. If you get there while the office is open, they will give you the choice of picking your own campsite (of those still available).

Canoe and kayak rentals are dirt cheap. You might see an alligator while canoeing, but per the park workers they don’t bother people.

Bring bug spray! Especially in the hotter months.

    Thousand Trails Lake Conroe

    Busy Campground

We camped here for a long weekend getaway, and wanted to see what a Thousand Trails campground was like.  The campground is huge, and you cannot reserve a specific site.  You drive around and pick a site, then call and let them know which one you're in.  This is fine, but we were looking for a quiet, private site and there are very few of those.  We enjoyed our time here in our full hookup site, but the campground was just too busy for our taste.  There were vehicles constantly driving up and down the road in front of our site, and lots of children running around.  We don't have kids, so this was a little annoying to us.  The campground has a lot of amenities such as swimming pool, lake, playgrounds, etc... that would be fantastic for a family.  We like to camp for the relaxation and serenity of it, and this campground just isn't that type of place.
