Liberty Hill Park is located on the southern shore of Navarro Mills Lake in central Texas. Visitors can enjoy a view of the lake from the facility and participate in popular outdoor actives like camping, boating, fishing and picnicking. The lake area provides the perfect setting to get away from it all, especially for city-dwellers from the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.
Birdwatching is a favorite year-round pastime for lake guests. Many species of songbirds, hawks, great blue herons, ducks, geese, other shorebirds and even an occasional bald eagle visit the area. Swimming is available at the designated swim beach from April 1- September 30 for day users and year round for registered campers. No lifeguard on duty and swimming is at your own risk. Liberty Hill is also a favorite viewing area for wildflowers. The brilliant array of native flowers draws visitors from all over to the lake area during the spring. Bluebonnets, paintbrushes and a myriad of other native plants transform the often-bleak winter landscape into an incredible palette of colors. A wide variety of habitat provides a home and abundant food supply to diverse wildlife. Visitors might stumble across squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, white-tailed deer, raccoon or armadillo.

We went to check this place out to reserve for a family camp trip. The grounds are clean and spacious. They have wonderful cabins and RV sites. The only have 5 tent sites. There are no tent pads and the sites are on a small hill. The picnic tables are limited and not every tent site has one. There are no fire rings so it’s a little unnerving building a fire on the grass. The lake and marina is wonderful and clean. They have all sorts of thing to do there. Kayak rentals, fishing charters, a cute little cafe. This is a place I would come to rent a cabin but not to tent camp!

An affordable place to stay while checking out the metro, an even better place to get away from the metro. Beautiful night skies, amazing water views. Heavily shaded. We hiked to our primitive site. Over 10 miles of hiking trails. Lots of day use areas and boat launches spread out. Affordable Kayak and paddle board rentals. Bath houses were below standard.

We have really enjoyed our time here at Texan RV Park while attending the RV Fundamentals Course at the NRVTA. The manager, Betty made herself available to assist with any problem 24/7. The park itself is immaculate. There are 2 ponds, cabins, a clubhouse laundry, beautiful showers. There are food trucks on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Activities nearly everyday. Everyone that stays here is attending a class, so everyone visits with each other. I really really like it here.

The park also offers multiple boat ramps, kayak rentals, and a swimming beach.

We stopped by for the night after visiting the state park to meet up with some friends and I'm so glad we took the detour! The site was a little tight. We had one close to the cabins that you can rent and there was just enough room for all our vehicles and tents but not much more. There was the usual picnic table and fire pit. There was a communal spigot for water which is fine. Its more often a luxury for each site to have their own so I wasn't expecting that in this tent spot. but the campground was a different world. Yogi bear's world really.. My friends kids had a blast. There were scheduled activities all day long and the guys were able to go fishing in the nearby lake. We all had a blast. I would go back in a heart beat.

UPDATE: we left a night earlier. There was no point in staying since we didn’t want to be outside. We will be reaching out to KOA to see if/what they can do about the experience.
This place is nice and up to the “standards” of KOA. I know KOAs are more expensive but this one felt too pricey. Our site was very well shaded but there was a lot of trash. Picnic tables are usually messy but the one we had was gross, not worth cleaning or using. Depending on the direction you’re coming there is an ugly Uturn to get to the entrance. The deluxe sites look super nice as do the cabins. I wouldn’t return but it’s a nice place and would recommend if you’re looking for a an RV park. This is the 2nd KOA, and the staff were nice but the “community feel” isn’t there, not like other places.

GuideHave visited several times, we purchased park pass as they charge daily fee of $10 per vehicle. Joe Pool lake is part of park. It’s a big park, lots of good spaces. We stayed at site 190. It’s at end of road with privacy. Our only complaint on this site is when it rains, water pours into site and erodes area quickly and will fill your mat ect with orange clay. There’s are rentals like golf carts & kayaks. They have a big beach, park area to enjoy. Staff is friendly.
RangerCedar Hill is perfect for a day trip if you’re living in the DFW metroplex. It offers camping, swimming, hiking, biking and the historic Penn Farm. Cedar Hill suffered a lot of damage during the 2015 floods but has rebounded nicely and is a nice place to get away from it all. Warning: not all campsites are created equal and it would be well worth your time to get there as early as possible to get a nice spot. In the summer people are in line waiting when the office opens at 6 AM to claim their spot. There is a lot of wildlife including bunnies, road runners, snakes and deer. There’s great wildflowers here during the spring. It also offers a boat ramp to Joe Pool Lake. If you’re going to swim the bottom of the lake is muddy. Fishing here is really good as well.

There are 5 camping loops in this park! If you are wanting a lakeside campsite there are many options. The 3 loops on the north end of the park are close to the very busy road so there is road noise all the time.
The Penn FArm exhibit is very cool for the whole family and is ADA compliant but a bit on the rough side for handicap scooters.
The day use area was in need of some work on my visit but I think the day use area has since been rebuilt.

I highly recommend a visit to Loyd Park for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing camping experience. You should go there territorial io. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is unbeatable.
GuideNot as quiet and a bit more busy than most Texas state parks we frequent but the kids really enjoyed watching the planes and the skyline views at night. Cant beat full hookup either.
There are plenty of city comforts 10 minutes away. We stopped in the area mostly to disc golf and hang out at the campsite so didn't try any local places eat. At the park there is a nice variety of trails and lake access as well but there were lots of renovations going on so some of the areas were closed.
It was a great place to stop after dealing with the Dallas traffic heading south and will stay again.
LegendI stayed at Abilene State Park the night before and loved it so I chose another Texas state park. I had some issues with getting settled. I was first put in a loop and site that was next to a freeway and it was just too loud. I was switched to another site that was too small for my 25’ rig. The third time was a charm. The staff was apologetic and helpful. One of the loops I tried had a bathroom closed down for renovation so I am not sure why they were putting people there. A lot of the infrastructure I saw was a bit dated. Overall a good park but not as nice as Abilene. It needs some TLC.

Liberty hill is a very beautiful campground but there is a serius issue with the invasive Argentian ant. This is a great campground to spend a few days or weeks relaxing and catching fish. Lake Navarro Mills is well know as the best Crappie fishing lake in Texas. Navarro Mills Liberty Hill Park features a fantastic fishing barge that is covered allowing you to fish no matter the weather. Our visit to Liberty Hill Park at Navarro Mills Lake was a real treat with one minor exception, Argentine Ants, these can be a real issue when RV camping at Liberty Hill Park as this invasive species is out of control at Liberty Hill Park. GuideWe love this Jellystone! We are full time travelers with young kids and they love this RV park. There are sooo many fun activities (be warned, the cost can add up). The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The adjoining water park is a blast. We prefer the older part because of the trees that offer shade in the hot Texas sun, but the red carpet sites are so much better for big rigs. We’ve stayed in both and would probably choose the red carpet sites for our 44’ rig. One thing that I love is how much they are putting into expansion, we look forward to visiting again when the construction is done. Anyhow, there are some cons, but not worth mentioning considering how much good exists at this fun park!

We really enjoyed this park. It’s very clean and quiet. The trees are beautiful and add great shade. Most of spaces are pull through and very easy to setup at. We had a fire pit and picnic table. The bath houses are nice and private. We used the laundry services and everything worked properly. The staff is very friendly and easy to access in case you need something. Fitness room is little but updated and clean. My boys jumped in the pool even though it was 55* outside and said it was a fun experience. Easy access to Target just around the corner, Parks mall is close by and Arlington Highlands shopping is really nice! The road into the park is only 2 lanes with no shoulder, but as a Michigander I’m finding Texas roads to be interesting 😅 WiFi worked for my family of 5 the majority of the time for simple things. Hubby works remotely and went to Panera for stronger/faster service.
We did stay in 2 spaces as we extended our stay and someone had previously booked our space.

We spent an entire month, as we typically do, in Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park in Terrell, Texas. There is a lot to really like about this campground. We would definitely stay here again.

The basketball /tennis courts had just been resurfaced
Anytime someone left, or a spot was empty, new gravel was being dumped and leveled
Even though closed for Covid, the pool was cleaned daily.
There's a small dog park area.
Doggie bags were provided in multiple places, and ample trash cans in which to drop them.
Sufficient WiFi repeaters throughout the CG
The grass is kept mowed down, good to avoid those Texas stickers getting in your shoelaces.
All but one staff member was really friendly.
Package receiving was well handled and painless.
Each visitor, even short term like us, gets a mailbox. You can go in 24/7 and check it.
There's a "swap area" where people leave magazines, etc. (Near the mailboxes.)
There's a nice little pond you can fish in, catch-and-release only, no license required.
LOTS of room to walk the dog!
There's ample overflow parking and trailer storage space so you don't have to crowd your campsite.
Laundry facility on site, we didn't utilize it since we have a W/D in the rig.
Bulletin board for posting things, we bought our W/D from another person at the campsite!

GuideWe got a free Thousand Trails membership from the dealership when we purchased our new camper so we decided to use it for Labor Day at Lake Whitney RV Campgrounds. We went with our camping buddies (theDyrt Ranger Jenny S and family) who also pulled their camper. The sites are first come first serve and there is no holding sites, so if you go as a group finding sites that are together is tough (several sites were bagged and not usable). We picked Sites #6 and #83 on Loop B. Luckily these sites back up to each other and the kids could roam between the two sites. The sites were 30 AMPs with full hooks up and that part was nice. Didn't have to watch tank levels every time someone (kids) flushed.
The campsites were pretty shady with red cedar trees which created havoc with my son's allergies. Poor kid was stuffed up the entire time we were there. The sites were pretty cramped, we were not able to extend our awning without hitting the tree branches. The road inside the campground is pretty beat up with lot of bumps. The amenities were nice - a family swimming pool, shuffleboard, washers, putt-putt golf. The campgrounds had several activities for Labor Day such as a water melon eating contest, frozen T-shirt contest which kept the kids entertained.
Don't hang anything on the trees. We had some LED light up and the park ranger had us take it down. Was actually a little harsh about it. Following that encounter we took down the clothesline that we strung up to dry our swimming suits and wet towels. No place to hang a garbage bag either.
Politeness in customer service was hit or miss.
Our stay was free because of the Thousand Trails membership but otherwise each site goes for about $45/night. I'll do it again for free, if I have to pay...I will go down the street at Lake Whitney State Park for $25 with full hookups.

Friendly staff at check-in. We stayed in campsite 29 which is kind of elevated a bit and we had a great view of the lake. Even tho it rained quite a bit we still enjoyed ourselves. Local sheriff’s dept and park ranger made several trips through the park which made it feel secure. Bathroom facilities were clean. We would definitely stay here again.
