Accessible via River Road, Birch Branch Campground operates year-round as one of seven Forest Service campgrounds clustered within a mile of each other. The campground provides pit toilets and trash service but no water or hookups, requiring campers to pack supplies or visit the small outfitter store at Green Cove two miles north.
Sites sit close to the road, though traffic typically diminishes after dark. Weekends bring heavier use from anglers targeting the nearby river and motorcyclists exploring the extensive dirt road network. Weekday visits often result in having the entire campground to yourself. The remote location offers no cell service, and pets are not permitted. Campers use this area as a base for fishing, seasonal kayaking, and accessing world-class hiking and mountain biking trails throughout the campgrounds around Cherokee National Forest.
