Overall Great!

We asked for the best site and got site 12 for our Tacoma roof top tent rig. We would say for our needs site 13 was the best. Beautiful view of the water and nearly no one here. Outside of that if people were here it would be crowded as the sites are pretty close. Bathrooms are nice free showers!

Awesome campground!

This is a great little campground in the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. We stayed right by the river at two neighboring campsites (14 and 15), and it was amazing to wake up to the sights and sounds of the river. The bath house was a little bit of a hike, but it was only a few minutes walking distance away. The only downside is that it’s right beside a highway, so you hear traffic all day and night. But as you’d expect, it’s a bit quieter at night (it rained the first night of our stay, and the rain was louder than the traffic, to put things in perspective). I would absolutely come back here!

Nice location off the interstate

Camped here in one of the pull through spaces. The campsite is a bit narrow, and definitely not flat, so the jacks came in handy.

It's conveniently right off the interstate, making it great for a quick stop, but if you are wanting a quiet getaway, the engine breaking big rigs, and the occasional car alarm may be worth a thought. Hey, I don't care, but I want to be honest just in case.

This place checks off most of my needs: good wifi, 30A hookup, full bars on Verizon/AT&T, and paid around $35/night.

All in all this place is good; minus one star for road noise, and not knowing the bathrooms/facilities being closed for the winter ahead of time.

Amazing site

First off this campsite was amazing!! Bathrooms were clean and so were the showers. The tent sites are on the bank of the river. The RVs and campers are on the other side of the campgrounds. It is close to I-40 so you hear semi trucks every now and then but you barely hear them over the river. Very peaceful and only 30 minutes from Gatlinburg. We will be back!

GREAT campground, bad timing

Let me just say, this campsite is beautiful and very well kept. Close (but not too close) proximity to trails & destinations. You have everything you need, and the owners are the sweetest couple ever. You've got gorgeous mountain vistas on the horizon & the Pigeon River roaring right next to you. It's an idyllic little spot.

However, the Pigeon River is controlled-release, and in the off season (the "on" season is may-september), it is unpredictable. Being from New Orleans, I remember asking the hosts for reassurance that flooding wouldn't be a concern. She told us we'd definitely be fine. Later that day, while we were out hiking, the power plant decided to release a TRUCKLOAD of water (locals told us they hadn't seen it this high in 8 years). Our campsite flooded, our sleeping bags & mats got soaked, and at least one pair of shoes is lost forever. Obviously the campsite can not control this, but I'd just say... be extremely wary of the River.

Highly Recommend

My family and I stayed here for the weekend. We absolutely love it. We stayed on the river at campsite 20 and 21. The kids were able to get into the water and swim. The dam does release the water around 2pm so be aware that the water will rise. The bath houses are right behind the office where you check in. They are clean, the only problem I seen was when a toilet is flushed it does take some of the water pressure. They are super friendly and laid back. The campground is family and pet friendly!

Beautiful site - horrible water

Fox Fire campsite is beautiful given the locations proximity to a national park. I made a video to show what the sites look like. The one downside is that the water was really brown- not just on one spigot but on all the ones I tested. A big plus is the internet was really fast.

I made a video of the campground.

Nice campground

We have a 33 ft travel trailer and our truck and had plenty of room in the pull thru site 2. Not a lot of privacy between sites but I didn’t think it was bad at all. Full hookups were a plus. Bath house was very clean. Plenty of area to walk the dog and a nice open field with a pavilion you could use for groups. The tent area was down by the river and was absolutely beautiful. No renters were here the nights we stayed so we walked down often. The entrance is steep downhill coming in... a little scary at first but not a problem. The RV sites are close to the interstate so you can hear some jake brakes from time to time and road noice but not terrible. I would come back for sure.

Beautiful riverside camping

Friendly staff, firewood and ice on site, the riverside tent sites are the way to go, can watch zip liners and rafters go by. Bring a float to tie out from your campsite for some good river fun!!

camping or rafting

This place has RV sites, tent site and a place to take a white water rafting adventure all here. Ziplines are just next to it and if you hang out by the river you will see them zip across the river, the dogs were so amazed by this. They charge the same low rate year round no matter the season or holiday, which is unusual. They have some long term sites and short term ones in RV area. The only thing I wish was different would be to have some of the RV sites closer to the river. It's not far from it but u cant see it from the RV area. All the sites by the river are for tent campers only. Almost went and bought me a tent to have down there on another site so we could have a comfy spot on the river for us to hang out. But we only stayed a couple days and had to move on to the house. Would definitely return if in the area.

The Best Campground, Right On The River, Love Everything Here!

Foxfire is my favorite campground to visit. The view of the river next to our campsite was amazing, water water rafting right there at the campground, fishing from the campsite was a bonus and the owners are the nicest people we've met in our travels. Full hook ups or primitive sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Nice clean campground we plan to visit often.
