Pigeon River Campground

Pigeon River Campground sits along the banks of the Pigeon River in Hartford, Tennessee, operating as a private facility from March through November. The campground accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, plus amenities like WiFi, showers, and a dump station. Sites can be accessed by driving, walking, hiking, or even boating.

River access stands out as the primary draw here. Some sites face directly toward the water, where campers encounter a shallow, slow-moving current that changes dramatically when upstream dam releases occur. Raul M. notes the "proximity to the river" and mentions a roughly two-hour window before increased current arrives after dam releases. A rafting outfitter operates next door for those wanting guided water activities.

The facility includes both RV sites and tent camping areas, along with rental cabins. Reviews mention clean facilities and helpful staff, though some sites lack adequate shade coverage. The campground features a pool and playground, though many visitors spend their time along the riverbank instead. For additional camping options in the region, visitors can explore camping near Hartford.

At $45-55 per night with reservations available and pets welcome, this campground works well for families wanting easy river access and RV travelers needing full hookups.

Great Place for a Weekend Adventure

Stayed here for a bike race and it was a great place to use as a base for adventures in the area. Facilities were clean, staff was super friendly. Easy access to the river. Sites were easy to back into. Only negative was a lack of shade on the sites.

Great location and easy river access

This campground is not huge but it has everything you need. Especially, proximity to the river. Our two sites were directly facing the river, which was shallow, with a slow current until they let the dam out. Then, you had about a 2 hour window before the current came. If you wanted to go rafting , there is an outfitter right next door. We barely used the pool, playground, and wifi because the kids liked being in nature. There were also tent sites and cabins. We’ll comeback!
