    Sunset, South Carolina

Table Rock State Park is known for being a perfect glimpse into the scenic bliss that South Carolina's Highway 11 is known for. Most prominent to the park is the towering mountain Table Rock, where the park earns its name. This also serves as a backdrop for the 3,000 acre park, and its numerous camping facilities. Below this section of the Blue Ridge Mountains, visitors can enjoy Table Rock State Park's cabins and campground, as well as lakes and various hiking trails located within.

The Table Rock State Park hiking trails weave through mountain streams, babbling brooks, and rushing waterfalls to the tops of Pinnacle and Table Rock mountains. The views here showcase the entirety of the region, and shouldn’t be skipped if you’re planning on visiting. That said, while the park is well known for its natural features, Table Rock also has its place in history.

For example, the park’s hiking trails host the access point for the 80-mile Foothills Trail, one of the most famous in the Midwest. Hikers often use this trail to travel through the extensive network of SC state parks. These trails date all the way back to the Pioneers who would use them as trade routes and for homesteading. In fact, many of the Table Rock State Park cabins and other structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps remain standing and are on the National Register of Historic Places.

This park is unique in that it is one of only 16 South Carolina state parks built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Moreover, there is even a historic CCC-built Lodge available for weddings, receptions, meetings and other special occasions. Additionally, the park features 2 park lakes: the 36-acre Pinnacle Lake and the 67-acre Lake Oolenoy.

94 standard campsites for tent or RV camping, plus 14 renovated cabins provide ample accommodation to visitors. Aside from the larger lakes, there is also an old-fashioned swimming hole complete with a high-dive that is open during the summer season. Take your family out and use one of the 4 picnic shelters available to rent for group gatherings, for a day of fun, music, and recreation. And for those wanting an event to check out, the Music on the Mountain bluegrass jam takes place each month at the Table Rock Lodge–perfect for anyone wanting to escape the outdoors for a minute.

    Peace and Quiet

I stayed October 2022. My first time at this site. At that time, it wasn't under new ownership yet. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. There was some renovations being done. But, all in all, I found it to be clean and stocked. Looking forward to my next visit.

Eenjoyed staying there, staff was awesome and really did a great job keeping the guest happy. The 4th of July events was awesome and was a full day of contest and ended with a DJ kicking the tunes. Recommend to all to give them a try!

    Best place for my pup

We stayed for memorial day weekend in one of the rvs they had for rent. Had such a great time I went and bought a camper and have plans to go back already! My husky had a blast, as did the humans.

    Quiet but lacking

Stayed over 4th of July weekend. Couldn’t believe how quiet it was for a holiday. There isn’t anything around at all. They offer a pool but no other activities (they did have some 4th activities but it was all seasonal). It backs to the lake so if you have a boat it’s nice. But when we went on the lake we saw many other campgrounds that looked nicer. There is one dumpster that we had to walk to to throw trash away. No pick up or closer locations. Not level sites. Mostly seasonal which is fine but not a great place or easy to get in/out of if transient. Other campgrounds closer to Clemson. No town nearby at all.

    Beautiful and Quiet

I love this place, with nice wide sites and many with views of three ponds nestled in the woods. The place was squeaky clean and the bathhouse very well designed. There are fun and funky places to visit nearby. The spring wildflowers are starting to bloom and I remember the scent of honeysuckle everywhere. A great blue heron hangs out at the fishing ponds.

    Beautiful Trailside Site

I did a quick overnight here, as is custom when I travel for work, and it was spectacular. I stayed at Trailside Camp Site #2, which is one of their remote, primitive sites at the North Lake and all I can say is wow. The views were spectacular, and watching the full moon come up over the mountain was something I will never forget.

The site itself was spartan, as is expected in a primitive site but it did have a fire ring and a picnic table. Site 2 is right on the lake, with plenty of dead wood to get a fire going. The hike in is about 2ish miles of moderately difficult trails, with some amazing views along the way, including a walk across the North Lake dam. The hike was well worth it though.

Very Friendly and Cozy Campground with Plenty to enjoy

The owners and host are amazing at what they do! They’ve planned so much for this campground that our kids have had 5 days of things to do each day. We’ll definitely return and mark this as a favorite campground.

    Super nice owner

Campground convenient to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock in the mountains. Quiet with a creek running through. Had cell reception and campground at the end of the road.

Restrooms weren't working, so there was a port- a potty. No showers. Did have water, electric sewer. We were in site D, which was not very level.

They have a playground for kids. No wifi.

    Tent site 24

Nice relaxing camping spot. The tent pad on site 24 was kinda small but all the others looked plenty large enough. Was not expecting the campground to be sold out this time of year so I would definitely recommend reserving a spot far in advance. The price was a little expensive but there’s a lot to do in the state park.

    Great tent and cottage experience

My kid(12) and I had a great experience here: 2 nights in tents and 2 in a River Cottage. The tent camping is not quite"roughing it": there's pretty reliable WiFi and the bath house is air conditioned and kept very clean. Moving to the cottage was meant to be easier in my kid, but I didn't expect all the amenities: refrigerator, screened in porch, and very comfy beds. The drive down the mountain is a little nerve-wracking for a city boy, and my car's low clearance had me scraping my underside on some rocky bumps inside the property, but that's just a heads-up, not a complaint. Would definitely go back!

    Amazing Stay!

My Husband, Niece, Nephew & I just got back from spending a wonderful weekend @ The Point! Such a great carefree, quiet and peaceful place to stay!! Before I continue with this 5* Review I will say prior to even turning into the campground I started having flashbacks of the area when my husband & I had visited once before over a year ago(we did not stay, we just toured the property) & my anxiety kicked in real bad! The campground was under a different name/ownership & it was an absolute "DUMP" to say the least! So as we were driving up the road leading to the campground this weekend my husband was like "this area looks familiar & I know you haven't booked us @ that raggedy campground we looked @ a year ago", I was like "OMG, I've booked the wrong place" However when we turned in I immediately noticed the new & improved changes to the campground! They have a new name/new owners & they have done some major improvements & you can tell they care about the property! The grounds have been cleaned up, the basketball/tennis court area can now actually be used. The new pool area is under construction & you can tell it's going to be great! The office/campground store is stocked with plenty of essentials you may need for your stay! They even have prepackaged Smores kits for you to purchase. The clubhouse area was nice. They had Karaoke& Potluck night while we were there! The laundry/bathhouse area was also nice/clean! As far as the actual campsites there are not any concrete pads but you can tell they have tried their best to make the sites level& better accessible by clearing up the area& removing some of the trees. We were in site G4(which was considered a larger site, we have a 38ft 5th wheel), my nephew was in site F5& both sites were easy to get into with no issues. They offer tent sites, tiny cabins & a few waterfront sites. We had our boat, they offer a decent area for boat parking & the boat ramp/dock to access beautiful Lake Hartwell was ok! The ramp/dock area could use a little facelift but it was still decent & I'm sure they probably have plans to upgrade it in the future! Overall Kim, Mike, Angie and the other staff were absolutely amazing & very accommodating! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & will definitely return to The Point & recommend to our friends/family!

    Location, Location, Location

This is and older campground, cutely done, red neck style. There are a lot of older rigs here, but everyone is very welcoming and nice. We were on site A, its definetely big rig friendly. We travel in 30 TT and we had tons of room. There is a small catch and release pond. The outhouse, has 6 showers 3 each womens, and mens, in front of the building is and old claw foot tub for decoration that sayes Bath 5 cents. it also has a blue johnny house on trailer out front, but no worries they have flush toilets too!

Ok, about Location, its 1.2 miles from Ingels grocery, and its a wonderful store, lots of ready to go food, also Lake Lure at 2 miles with Lake house bar and grill, both inside and outside decks with view of Lake, it even has a boat dock for customers arriving by boat. Chimney rock town and Lake Lure both have nearby shopping at small stores, tons of places to eat nearby, oh dont forget the waterfalls and botanical bridge gardens, tons to do here. The ingels at 1.2 miles also has all your fuels including diesel. We had a lovely Stay! Thank You everyone at the hitching post for being such lovely neighbors!

White Oaks Campground = Cell Service

Stayed here for 2 weeks in January at the White Oaks Campground, not Loop A.  Table Rock is about 10 minutes east of Keowee Toxoway State Park, and probably 20 minutes from Devil's Fork.  Nearest town with major stores is Pickens, SC. Greenville is about 45 minutes.

    *Navigation*
White Oaks is much further into the park than Loop A, so you'll actually drive by the main trail entrances.  Getting into my site (84) was fine, but be advised there's a mix of tent, small trailer, and larger sites.  Some of sites looked under construction when I was there.

    *Internet*

Cell service is one of the main reasons you'd want to choose White Oaks instead of the main campground.  When I drove though, Loop A had no service on Verizon.  Somehow, just down the road, White Oaks had fast 5G.  Starlink could connect, but obviously wasn't reliable because of the dense forest.

    *Site*
I stayed in site #84 which was definitely one of the better ones available.  Picnic table and firepit faced a wooded area with more privacy than some other sites.  Pad backs up to a very pretty creek - there's a random road behind it but barely noticeable.

    *Facilities*

Restrooms/shower was fairly modern and very clean - hot water available.  Dump station and laundry is located at the main campground, not at White Oaks.

    Adult and Dog campground wonder

From the moment we arrived at the campground the manager "Larry"  ( a workamper) signed us in, show us our site on Wagging Tail Dr.  We arrived on their opening weekend the Owners provided BBQ meal and live music "Jose Wales" band.   It was a wonderful time.  As for the "Dog Retreat part - 18 acres of wonder open areas fenced in to keep you furry friends from running away, there is agility park, puppy park, the main dog park, a private park (single or you can invite), a Lure run, a Ball Park, and a Pond for those watery dogs.

Price for Fire wood - a little expensive and 10 lbs of Ice was reasonable.  There are fully fenced sites, a couple of sites with a fenced area.  The larges rig I saw in there was a Solitude at  38 ft.

Over all, if you want the peace and quiet in the North Carolina foot hills with your furry friend and have a good time.  This is the place to be.

One other note:  It is the only park in NC that is a dedicated dog campground.

Quiet park with great hiking nearby

Very welcoming when we got to the park, and good directions to get to our site. As others have said, the road is quite twisty, but we did not have any problems pulling our 34 ft travel trailer. Our site, number 36, was level, but a few of the sites appeared to be not so much. Quiet while we were here, and great hiking nearby. We will come again
