Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Golden Valley

    Kid Paradise

We took the grandkids to the Bostic, NC Jellystone in mid-July. They had a fabulous time. The RV site we had was #408. It was perfectly level and roomy with trees behind us. The bathrooms/showers are modern and spotless. We could only get a two night reservation, but that was enough. The kids (10 and 11) played so hard they were exhausted. It's a huge park with a system of golf cart trails that connect everything. The kids thought that was as exciting as the water park and the swimming pond. After having been there - I'd say a golf cart rental is a requirement. Despite the nearly 100 degree temps, the staff and other campers were cheerful and friendly. The kids made several friends. We didn't have time to do the crafts, but they looked fun. They loved the rollercoaster and minigolf. It's a good idea to bring your own food, as the options there aren't well-rated and expensive, but the ice cream was great. The only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer.

    Peace and Quiet

I stayed October 2022. My first time at this site. At that time, it wasn't under new ownership yet. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. There was some renovations being done. But, all in all, I found it to be clean and stocked. Looking forward to my next visit.

    Best place for my pup

We stayed for memorial day weekend in one of the rvs they had for rent. Had such a great time I went and bought a camper and have plans to go back already! My husky had a blast, as did the humans.

I found my happy place here at Hippie Holler! No kids or loud obnoxious other campers, felt at home, safe, understood and able to relax completely. Hidden Gem for the neurodivergants and chill seekers. Cool solar lights made it trippy ful lol

    public park

stayed here for 3 nights.my spot was in the woods  tight spot for  42 ft  trailer and no area next to the camper to sit unless you want to fall back from the steep grade .

lake was very pretty and very busy . if you don't own a boat there is not much to do. I.  thought it was very noisy and crowded.

    Adult and Dog campground wonder

From the moment we arrived at the campground the manager "Larry"  ( a workamper) signed us in, show us our site on Wagging Tail Dr.  We arrived on their opening weekend the Owners provided BBQ meal and live music "Jose Wales" band.   It was a wonderful time.  As for the "Dog Retreat part - 18 acres of wonder open areas fenced in to keep you furry friends from running away, there is agility park, puppy park, the main dog park, a private park (single or you can invite), a Lure run, a Ball Park, and a Pond for those watery dogs.

Price for Fire wood - a little expensive and 10 lbs of Ice was reasonable.  There are fully fenced sites, a couple of sites with a fenced area.  The larges rig I saw in there was a Solitude at  38 ft.

Over all, if you want the peace and quiet in the North Carolina foot hills with your furry friend and have a good time.  This is the place to be.

One other note:  It is the only park in NC that is a dedicated dog campground.

    Very nice & quiet

Very friendly and accommodating. I called the campground office just prior to arrival, to see if they were open this time of year, and check site availability. The (I assume owner) was very friendly and stayed in the office past closing hours for my arrival. Had choice of multiple sites.

    All about the pups!

Truly a dog-oriented campground, there are tons of activities and plenty of room to roam for the dogs.

No camper? No problem. They have campers, yurts and tiny cabins for rent.

Everyone is extremely nice and the grounds and facilities (bathrooms, laundry, dog wash, etc) are very clean.

    Running water/pit toilet/NO picnic tables

We like it. It's been quiet the times that we've been there. If you're a road cyclist this is heaven, and some decent trail riding down to the lakes. Just be aware that there are no picnic tables. Still it's cheap and close to where we live in Spartanburg.

    Not for tent campers

We left 3 nights into our planned week stay. Put in a field by the road with quite a bit of traffic. The locals know there are 2 porta pitted and stop all night to use it. You do not feel safe!!!! The restrooms were rundown and very dirty. The pool was closed the entire time we were there for maintenance. The owner? Maintenance person were arguing and yelling. The lady in the office was yelling at the other guys. Not good!!!!!

    Great place to stay

Saved my family from a tough spot

We had an accident after checking out, they came and picked us up and took care of us while the vehicle was repaired. Can't say enough nice things about the staff. My children loved this place and the many things to do. My only gripes are the hiking maps are no good, and if you go during off season, plan for a lot of the amenities to be closed. We went memorial day and the few days after most of the amenities were closed except pool and the lake. When everything is open it's amazing

This was a wonderful campground. Very nice management. Was able to contact them for anything via text or walk into office when open. Beautiful restrooms kept clean and had a combination lock on them. Will definitely stay there again when in the area.

We live nearby so this is a nice little place to camp at. Nice sites, close to places to eat. Bathhouse was clean and well kept. We went around Halloween and they had trick-or-treating around the park as well as prizes for the best decorated.

    Great stop for a night

This campground was not far off the highway and made for a good overnight stop. The staff was incredibly friendly and the pull through site we were in was easy to get into. It wasn't very crowded the night we were there. They have a nice dog park. I would stay here again if in the area.

    Shocked with the turnout

I’ve been looking at this place for a while and finally decided to visit.

Despite all the negative reviews, I was shocked with how things turned out.

The bathrooms had good hot water pressure and privacy but could use a little cleaning.

The sites we stayed at had plenty of space but could use a little TLC. Great spot for a more primitive approach though.

I’d recommend a 4wd vehicle if you plan on staying further up the campground as the gravel can be a little hard to transverse.

Overall, I was pretty satisfied. The owners weren’t rude, just quiet and reserved. Their store has just about everything you could need and it’s all well priced.

    Will probably be coming back
