Best Campgrounds near White Stone, SC

The region surrounding White Stone, South Carolina features a mix of state parks and private campgrounds that accommodate various camping styles. Croft State Park Campground, located just 15 miles from White Stone, offers year-round camping with both RV and tent sites, hiking trails, and water access. Pine Ridge Campground in nearby Roebuck provides full hookup sites with amenities for RVs along with tent camping options and cabin rentals. Paris Mountain State Park, though slightly farther at about 40 miles northwest, remains popular for its combination of lakeside sites and wooded camping areas. Most campgrounds in the area maintain moderate to high ratings for cleanliness and accessibility, with several offering both primitive options and developed sites with electric hookups.

Seasonal considerations affect camping experiences throughout the year, with hot, humid summers and mild winters typical of the South Carolina Piedmont region. Most campgrounds operate year-round, though summer brings higher occupancy rates and occasional afternoon thunderstorms. As one camper at Paris Mountain State Park noted, "Bathroom was clean and showers were nice. Level campspots!" Many sites require reservations, particularly during spring and fall when temperatures are most comfortable. Tent campers should be prepared for predominantly gravel pads at most developed sites, which can make tent setup challenging. Cell service varies significantly across the region, with stronger coverage near Spartanburg and more limited connectivity in rural areas and state parks.

Waterfront camping receives consistently positive reviews from visitors to the area. At Croft State Park, campers appreciate the "trail that takes you down to the creek for a swim" with "lots of hiking and biking to be done." Bathhouse facilities vary widely between campgrounds, with state parks generally maintaining well-kept facilities. Several campgrounds feature fishing opportunities in lakes and streams, with bass and bream being common catches. RV campers will find numerous options with full hookups, though larger rigs may face limitations at some of the older state park campgrounds. Noise levels depend largely on campground location, with some sites near highways experiencing road noise while others tucked into forest settings offer more peaceful surroundings.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Golden Valley

Disgusting with horrible customer service. Scam!

Checked in around 6:00. The guy checking us in told us that the golf carts haven’t been working on hills(the whole place is hills) and to let it cool down for 10 minutes at a time if it overheats. We go to the cabin, which is littered outside with used baby wipes, get settled in, and by 8:10 realize the kitchen is infested with ants. Dozens of ants covering the appliances, counters, and kitchen sink. We asked for help and were told that maintenance would come to our cabin. They never showed up. We called the emergency line and it didn’t work, just put us in an endless loop and then hung up on us. Over and over again. We stayed that night because what other choice did we have? No one was available to help us with literally anything. Following morning, we pack up our stuff and tell the staff we’re leaving and all of our issues and ask for a refund on the room we spent 15 reluctant, ant-filled hours in. They escalate to a manager, and then tell us that another manager will call us“shortly”. The call never came. You don’t get what you pay for here. What’s advertised is a complete lie. You pay for a full kitchen? Too bad—you can’t cook or even store food here because there’s ants everywhere. Paid several hundred dollars for a golf cart to get around? It only works when it wants to. Call the emergency line for assistance? Yeah right! We spent$2k and they’re trying to dodge us for a refund. Disgusting place, disgusting behavior.

    Outdoor adventure awaits

37 ft pull behind and we stayed at the upper campground (not the lakeside) close to the trail that takes you down to the creek for a swim. Lots of hiking and biking to be done which is always a great time.

Solitude Pointe Cabins & RV Park

    Quiet & Great Location

A wonderful campground run by friendly people. The sites are on level cement pads which makes set up easy. It is on a steep hill, but the camp hosts escort you to the site and help navigate your camper in if needed. We are new to camping so this was helpful. Sites back up to the woods. They also have a great camp store for any little things you forgot or keepsakes. Highly recommend this campground and will return!

    WyldStay Greenville

Glamping on the farm - Highland Cows

My wife and I stayed a couple weeks ago and had a blast.   We arrived and immediately met Pebbles (My wife's favorite of the Highland cows).  She was the sweetest cow and allowed us to pet, take pictures with her and of course feed her.   We also spent some time with the other cows and loved the experience as we interacted with them and all of the other animals, including the new sheep that recently arrived.   The camp site was way more then expected.   Large tents on a platform, with  everything you need to camp and enjoy the campgrounds and pastures.   Full bathroom onsite, great ponds to enjoy.

    Paris Mountain State Park Campground

    Solid campground

This is a beautiful park, with lots to do, and in close proximity to the endless supply of activities that can be found in the Greenville area.

The campground was quiet and well shaded. Some of the sites needed a little rehab and weren’t very flat. The bathrooms were definitely older, but very clean.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and will probably stay here again!
