On The Water’s Edge

If you are looking for no frills, peace & calm and don’t mind a somewhat dilapidated surrounding amongst a pretty laid back crowd of RV lifers, then this cul-de-sac campground might just be the place for you. There is a simple loop that you’ll take once you get here (just due north of Rt. 6) and will take you completely around the place (noted waterfront spaces around the perimeter). Insider’s tip? There’s a super cool little jetty called Loch Dhu Plantation that is a nice 20 minute or so kayak from Blount’s Landing (just head due east and bow around Rocks Pond Campground & Marina) that is quite scenic, especially from the water. In Scottish, Loch Dhu means ‘black lake,’ which is odd because the water here is quite blue and not terribly dark, but hey, maybe I hit it on a bad day. Regardless, while Blount's Landing is quite depressing, this little spot is a real gem, so be sure to have a look. As for Blount’s Landing, I don’t really recommend this spot – despite learning that there’s some decent evening get togethers (BYOB) on Friday nights and that there’s even a fish fry every once in a while. While there is a few great views from this point, the rest of the area is just alright and there’s a number of RV guests who must have arrived at one point (circa 1950's by the look of it) and just decided not to leave for some reason, so while the place ticks a number of boxes, it’s downtrodden environ leaves a lot to be desired.

Happy Camping!
