Tomlinson Run State Park places its campground at the top of a hill, well separated from the rest of the park's activity areas, with two main loops branching from the camp office and store. The WV Division of Natural Resources manages this 50-site operation in West Virginia's northern panhandle, where the terrain sits at the intersection of eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Sites are heavily wooded with consistent canopy cover, which means deep shade across most of the campground and faster drying after rain.
The majority of sites have gravel pads with electric hookups, and a handful of non-electric spots sit in a cul-de-sac at the end of one loop. Spacing is generally generous, though leveling can be a challenge on some sites. Sites 11 and 16 are noted as particularly wide. The non-electric spots include hammock hangers, a detail worth knowing if you're packing one. "Trees are everywhere and wonderful during the fall season," notes Shannon G., who camped in October. Alcohol is prohibited throughout the park.
The campground supports RVs up to 40 feet with electric and water hookups, plus a two-way dump station with potable water on site. A small camp store carries souvenirs, ice cream, and firewood at $6 a bundle. The bathhouse is older but consistently described as clean and heated in cooler months. Showers have fiberglass surrounds rather than concrete, and the facility includes flush toilets and a laundry room. One recurring note: water spigots at individual sites may be shut off outside peak season, requiring a trip to the entrance.
Activities extend well beyond the campground loop. The park has several hiking trails ranging from flat to hilly, a fishing lake that also works for kayaking, mini-golf, disc golf, a pool, and rental watercraft in season. "Hiking poles are recommended especially if it rains," adds Shannon G. The campground runs April 1 through October 31, with reservations available. Rates run $28 to $40 per night depending on hookup type. Campers wanting a different setup nearby can look at Kennedy Marina Park or explore campgrounds around Tomlinson Run State Park for additional options in the region.
