Managed by the Cambria Somerset Authority, Quemahoning Family Recreation Area sits within a forested, lake-adjacent park outside Hollsopple, Pennsylvania, drawing campers who prioritize water access over remote solitude. Sites vary in amenity level, with electric hookups available at some and more primitive setups at others. Boats are available to rent on-site, though anyone bringing their own should note that only electric motors are permitted on the water.
Fishing and kayaking come up consistently across reviews, and most sites have sightlines toward the lake. The on-site camp store stocks wood, ice, and fishing supplies, as Thomas G. notes: "wood, ice and fishing supplies are available." Cell service is limited, which reviewers mention as something to plan around. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, and the campground is pet-friendly. There is no trash pickup, so campers carry out their own waste.
The shower facilities are modest: two stalls each for men and women, which can create waits during busy summer weekends. Reservations are available and likely worth making in peak season given the campground's popularity with families. Multiple reviewers mention the staff by name and note that management responds promptly to complaints and requests, which speaks to the general upkeep of the grounds. Nightly rates run $20 to $50 depending on site type. Campers wanting a different setup nearby might consider Somerset Resort about ten miles to the south.
