Accessible by 4WD vehicle, Summit Lake operates as a US Forest Service campground with scattered sites around the lake from June through September. The southern approach road requires high-clearance vehicles, particularly during wet conditions when access becomes challenging. Sites accommodate RVs up to 16 feet and include picnic tables, with vault toilets available throughout the area.
The lake provides opportunities for kayaking and paddleboarding, while the surrounding terrain offers huckleberry picking during late summer. Campers can access sites by driving, walking, or boating to their preferred spot. Payment information appears inconsistent based on recent visits, so contact the Forest Service before arrival to confirm current fees and reservation requirements.
Description
