Green grass and shade trees define the look of Sturdivant Park, a city-managed campground along the Coquille River in Coquille, Oregon. There are no designated sites. Campers park where they like across a broad, open meadow, which gives larger rigs room to spread out but also means the layout can feel unstructured. At $10 per night, paid via a self-registration box at the entrance, it functions best as an overnight stop rather than a destination stay.
The river runs along the edge of the park, and fishing draws a steady share of visitors. Shade from the trees makes the grassy area usable on warm days. A nearby grocery store has a water refill station and bottle redemption, and a laundromat is a short distance up the road. Noise comes from an occasional passing train and, at night, construction equipment from a nearby quarry. Reviewers have also noted that the park attracts a transient population, which has made some campers uncomfortable leaving their gear unattended.
Restroom quality has been inconsistent. The porta-potties on-site have drawn complaints about maintenance, though there is a permanent restroom facility nearby. Andrea K. notes the park has "lots of trees to park under/near," which holds up across multiple reviews. Campers who want more structure or hookups might look at Coquille River RV Park to the west, while those interested in places to camp near Penny Sturdivant Park will find a range of alternatives in the broader area. Sturdivant works best for self-sufficient travelers who need a low-cost, no-frills stop and are comfortable with an informal, open-field setup.
