Accessible year-round via forest roads, Elkhorn Campground sits within the Ochoco National Forest near Prineville. The US Forest Service manages this drive-in facility with drinking water, restrooms, and picnic tables at each site. RVs up to 24 feet can access the forested sites, though larger rigs should verify clearance on approach roads.
The campground provides firewood sales and trash service, with pets welcome throughout the area. Its lakeside location offers water access for fishing or paddling. Campers seeking different settings can explore Wiley Flat, located southeast in a more open terrain.
Description
Located on the edge of Forest Service land in the Maury Mountains and nestled under large ponderosa pine trees, this campground is relatively easy to reach yet still has a secluded feel. It is conveniently located near the Maury Mountain agate beds which host red, green, and gold moss agates. Find out more about rockhounding in Central Oregon at our Rocks & Minerals page
