Camp Rilea Military Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Land sailing on the wide Oregon coast beach draws some visitors to Camp Rilea, while others come simply for the direct foot access to the shore that the base provides. Situated on the northern Oregon coast near Warrenton, this military-managed campground requires a valid military ID, veteran status, or qualifying government employee credentials for entry. The gate is staffed 24 hours a day. Roughly 20 paved sites with full hookups, including electric, water, and sewer, sit in one section, while a separate gravel lot holds additional sites with electric only. Back-in configuration applies throughout.

Reviewers consistently highlight the cleanliness of the shower and bathroom facilities, which multiple campers describe as well maintained. The campground borders active training ranges, which can affect foot access to certain areas depending on scheduled activity. A dump station and potable water are available on site, and the base also includes a small exchange, a weight room, and coin laundry. The restaurant noted in past reviews was closed as of late 2024 and listed as seeking new ownership, so campers should plan meals accordingly.

Sunset Lake Resort & RV and Sunset Lake Campground and RV Park are nearby civilian alternatives for those without qualifying credentials. Astoria and the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park are roughly a ten-minute drive away. As Neil B. put it, "enjoy what your service earned." Eligible campers who want coastal access with full hookups and a low-key atmosphere among fellow veterans will find Camp Rilea worth the trip.

Good base for beach access, and quietly hang out.

We went there to have close access to Ocean Beach to go landsailing with some other friends. Parked our travel trailer and went all over the place in our Ranger. Pity the Restaurant that was active was closed looking for a new owner, but Warrenton and other places aren't far if you want to eat out. Nice sites, borders the training ranges, and nice showers and such when needed. Great places to see, beach is nearby, you have private access by foot to a few areas, (if not precluded by training,) and we will stay here again. The Landsailing, we have a little Blokart, turned out to be awesome and plan to meet up with folks there again. I'm totally comfortable to know I will be camping with other vets and families, that allow you space but are also a hoot to meet, if you're in the mood. The gravel power site was plenty for us. Enjoy what your service earned.

Great Campsite

Stayed 5 nights at Camp Rilea in dry spot. The sites are on gravel but there are only 20 sites on 2 large lots the lot with full hook ups is paved. The bathrooms and showers were very well maintained and clean. There is a path to the beach and only 10 minute drive to Astoria and Lewis and Clark National Park. Small base exchange free weight room and laundry was $5 for total visit with unlimited loads. Staff very friendly and base gate guarded 24/7

Power went out!!

We lost power for most of the night. But for the time while we did have power, the amenities were great! Pool table, restaurant, and an alcohol store a short walk away!
