Family Friendly Fun

Kah-Nee-Ta is a great spot for the whole family. I’m giving it a 4 star review because when we stayed in June 2025, and they still had some work to do after their remodel (they just reopened after being closed for 6 years). Our RV site’s sewer wasn’t operational, our water hook up leaked, and there was a bunch of standing water in the grass around our site.

That said, we had an awesome stay. There was plenty to do for the full three days we were there - swimming, mini golf, hiking, and pickleball were our favorites. They also have basketball, volleyball, river tubing, horseback riding, ping pong, cold plunges, a spa, a restaurant, a full bar… and a lot more!

The paved campground roads are great for bike riding. We loved sitting in the hot wellness spas at night, and floating on the warm lazy river during the day. The bathrooms and showers are clean. There’s communal fire pits throughout the campground. You can stay in teepees, hotel rooms, or in your own RV.

Honestly, this place has it all - including super friendly staff. If our site’s sewer and water hookups were working properly, this would be a 5 star review.

Nice to knows: it’s the desert, so be prepared for heat, bring plenty of water, and note that there’s no individual camp fire rings. It can also get pretty windy, making outdoor cooking/eating somewhat difficult.

PURE BLISS IN THE HIGH DESERT OF NORTHERN OREGON

Not sure why there are a lot of negative reviews of this gem of a place. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed every minute of our time here. Is it a Five Star Resort? Hardly. However, considering the location and the associated costs of maintaining a place that is off the beaten path it is quite remarkable.

There are many mineral pools varying in temperature. Including three cold plunge tanks. The campground is a bit dated but the sites are pretty level and have both FHU 30 and 50 amp. There are also dry campsites.

The resort has showers, flush toilets, a small restaurant and a full bar. There are also numerous hiking trails providing breathtaking views of the surrounding area including the cascade peaks of Mt. Hood, Sisters and Mt. Jefferson. Hikes are a bit arduous so make sure you take your time and bring plenty of water and snacks.

The resort is doing its best to try and recover from almost going out of business a few years ago. I will definitely stay here again. The soothing mineral water is well worth the price of admission.

It's closed, for now

Closed in 2018, planning on reopening in 2023. We'll see...

They previously had RV spots, hot springs pool with a few slides (one end for kids and the rest for swimmers), snack bar, arcade, mini golf, restaurant, and horse rides.

Up the hill about a mile was the golf course, main hotel with a pool, restaurant.
