      Lebanon-Cincinnati NE KOA

      Friendly and quiet

There are a lot of people here, but even during the day we hardly hear any loud noises coming from any of the other campers. Walking the property (as much as I can with my cane) everyone is so friendly. The grounds are kept very clean. The people from the office actually do garbage pick-up anytime during office hours! Just place your trash bag/ other items to be thrown away at the front of your site and they take it away. They even have recycling, but you have to take that up yourself. They won't just tell you where it is, they will show you. I haven't been to a KOA site in 15 years and the one I went to was not a great experience, but I highly recommend staying here if you're passing through Cincinnati.

      Hueston Woods State Park Campground

      Small close site.

I feel this is more of a tent camping campground. You park on pads and park campers anywhere you want. Nice shower house. Not much for kids. Hills.

      Very Nice

This KOA has been around ever since I can remember. The grounds are kept nice. Staff was super friendly. Lebanon is a great centrally located town. Near Cincinnati, Dayton and Kings Island. It’s also very close to the scenic Little Miami River. That’s great for paddling. There are also a few canoe liveries on the river not far.

    Guide to Melbourne

Camping opportunities near Melbourne, Kentucky center around the Ohio River valley where elevations range from 455 to 960 feet above sea level. The region experiences four distinct seasons with hot, humid summers averaging 85°F and winter lows near 20°F. Fall brings ideal camping conditions with temperatures between 50-70°F and colorful foliage across the hardwood forests, creating prime conditions for yurt camping and other outdoor activities.

    What to do

Kayaking and canoeing access: Stonelick State Park Campground offers kayak and canoe rentals directly at the campground, with a launch area near the entrance. "The boat ramp and parking lot is easy to use and has a good layout. They do have some tent sites close to the boat ramp area and you can see the lake from those tent sites," notes a camper at Stonelick State Park Campground.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple fishing spots are available throughout the region, with Hueston Woods State Park providing varied options. "Fishing at the campground can get crowded but other fishing spots are a short walking distance away," explains a visitor at Hueston Woods State Park Campground, which also features a designated dog swimming area.

Mountain biking trails: Morgan's Riverside Campground provides access to several biking trails along the river. A camper mentions, "Nice trails for hiking or taking a cruise on your bike. Spend the night at the camper cabin or if you have an RV hookup to one of the electric sites and enjoy the sunset," highlighting the dual-use nature of these paths for both hiking and biking adventures.

    What campers like

Spacious yurt locations: In addition to A.J. Jolly's yurts, other regional glamping options include Cowan Lake State Park's accommodations. "There are organized activities on the lake and through the nature center. You can also do your own thing. There are plenty of shady campsites, sunny ones, electric, primitive, pet-friendly, handicapped, and pull-throughs," says one visitor at Cowan Lake State Park Campground.

Clean modern facilities: The Cincinnati area campgrounds maintain high standards for bathrooms and shower facilities. "Bathhouses were clean. Bath house is new very clean closest to sites 10 12 11 9 and 7 they have a large covered area for events also in the Flatwood area most of the sites are on the lake front," reports a camper at A.J. Jolly Park & Campground.

Proximity to urban amenities: Many campers appreciate how nearby campgrounds allow for wilderness experiences while staying close to Cincinnati. "Very nice campground inside the urban loop in Cincinnati. Close to everything, yet quiet and secluded camping experience," comments a visitor about Winton Woods Park, noting the balance between nature and city conveniences.

    What you should know

Seasonal water level changes: River and lake levels can fluctuate dramatically throughout the year. "We stayed in early May, which is usually when they do their Triathlon. The Army Corps of Engineers decided to let water out of the dam up river, so it was flooded for a couple days," explains a visitor at Morgan's Riverside Campground & Cabins.

Site selection challenges: Some campgrounds have issues with site layouts. "Pad are about 12 x12 concrete so that's a plus but the location of the pads if you want to use your RV awning means your wheels in what ever your using are going to be nearly off the level area or in the grass," notes a camper about the Flatwood section at A.J. Jolly.

Noise considerations: Campgrounds near Melbourne can get busy during peak season. "The noise was not the greatest. They assured us that there was a night person who monitored noise and partying, and there were signs everywhere saying that quiet hours started at 10," reports one visitor about Morgan's Riverside Campground, suggesting earplugs for light sleepers.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple campgrounds offer family-friendly recreation areas. "Nice playground for the kids. Bathrooms are clean, with private combined shower/dressing stalls. There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies," shares a visitor about Winton Woods Campground.

Swimming options: Several campgrounds feature swimming areas for children. "The beach is a short distance away and love that they also include a dog swimming area. The bathrooms are a little outdated but the park is very well kept," mentions a camper at Hueston Woods State Park.

Educational opportunities: Many campgrounds near Melbourne offer nature programs. "The trails here are easy and short. I loved the informational boxes and tags that they had on the trees or plants. This is helpful if you have little ones with you," notes a visitor about Cowan Lake State Park's educational features.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Many Melbourne area sites require careful preparation. "None are level looking so you will need to know what you're doing to level your rig. The lake is in view to each site. The tables are all concrete and big but useable," advises an RVer at A.J. Jolly Park.

Seasonal accessibility: Winter camping is available at select locations. "I stayed here while traveling back home from the Smoky Mountains. It is a beautiful site but unfortunately we were not able to enjoy it. Great open sites, lots of walking and hiking available, full hook ups," notes a winter visitor at Camp Cedar, one of the newer glamping options near Melbourne offering year-round availability.

Hook-up configurations: RVers should check utility placement before booking. "Sites are fairly close together, gravel, and level. Fire rings are provided," mentions an RVer at Oak Creek Campground, highlighting the importance of checking site specifications when planning a yurt camping trip near Melbourne, Kentucky or bringing an RV.
