Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Swimming, fishing, and lake access draw campers to Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground in Akron, New York, where a private lake sits at the center of a busy, amenity-loaded property. The campground runs from May through October and fits rigs up to 50 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Paved roads run throughout the property, and short-term sites positioned across from the pond come with patios and gazebos.

This is not a quiet retreat. Sites sit close together, golf carts move constantly through the grounds, and a significant portion of the campground fills with seasonal campers who set up decks and fencing around their spots for the summer. Reviewers note the property can feel more like a small village than a traditional campground, especially on holiday weekends when it books to capacity. That density comes with a trade-off: there is a lot happening. The pool, mini-golf, beach, fishing access, volleyball, and organized activities give families with kids a full schedule.

David R. calls it a "clean friendly campground," and Sydney W. specifically notes "clean bathrooms near the campground store." The property also includes a saltwater pool, fitness center, laundry facilities, a small restaurant serving finger foods, and a well-stocked store. WiFi is available on-site. Cabin rentals provide an option for those without an RV or tent setup.

Reservations are recommended, particularly around summer holidays when the campground fills completely. One reviewer reported a hookup electrical issue that took time to resolve, so it is worth confirming site functionality at check-in. Pets are allowed. The campground accepts access by drive-in, walk-in, hike-in, and boat-in. Nightly rates run $30 to $42 depending on site type and season. Campers who prefer a less developed setting can look at Leisurewood Campground about four miles northwest, or check campgrounds near Akron for additional options in the area.

Kid friendly but Bee Problem

We had a lot of fun here and there’s a lot of activities for kids I would typically give this campsite 5 stars but our only problem was there were bees everywhere. I get some bees are apart of the camping experience and nature but we’ve never ran into this problem elsewhere. They were all over the campground it was very unpleasant and there was a nest under the playground we did advise management of.

Psychotic Management

If you have any concerns about their park or services they will immediately avoid you like the black plague!!! It's almost like they have things to hide, or don't want to justly return not even $1 that they are not entitled to. Running away from customers says a lot about their lack of professionalism, level of maturity, lack of integrity after they get paid, and the possible false statements they are making in their advertisements. To make a long story short, I did not receive all the services that they were supposed to deliver after paying them. The petting zoo is also questionable and one that should be looked at by PETA. Never going here again.

If you like busy...

I came to a coworker who has a seasonal site. This was a social visit with our grandkids. They had a blast feedlots the rain but this place is very busy with lots of sites that are very close. It reminds me of an ant farm there are so many golf carts whizzing around. Los of things to do for kids, pool, mini-golf, beach, fishing, and they plan activities here as well. Check the website for listings.

Best if you want a summer rental

Place is filled with campers which don’t move all summer. There are decks, low fences, and stuff around their campers. Clearly they visit annually for the season. We had a lake front spot but our electricity didn’t work. When I called they said someone would come check it “later”. We didn’t have power for our short visit. Too rainy to enjoy the grounds but the pool area looked nice. The lake didn’t look particularly inviting, maybe it was the rain.

Friendly staff, lots to do.

The staff was really friendly and judging by the regulars, they are always this friendly. There is lots to do, swimming, fishing, volleyball, bike riding, etc.. They were fully booked over fathers day weekend but found a spot for our truck camper with hookups. We will definitely go back.

Awesome Place

Great campground, they have it all, a huge lake to swim in, a salt water pool, fitness center, well stocked store, small restaurant with finger foods. If you camp in a 40ft motor home, travel trailer, 5th wheel, or tent they have a place for everyone.
