Decent state park campground
This is an older campground with several options. Only 6 sites with electric. 50 & 51 are nice & private. Lots of large tent sites, some in an open area & others fairly private. 4 tent pads with obstructed river views. Assorted cabins, mostly above the river. Restrooms small but pretty clean by state park standards.
Not secluded but great for kids
The beautiful playground equipment was a good-send for our family. It's likely not a great place for people who want to be deep in the wilds- the road access means cars are driving around all day long. However, it was great to be able to walk easily to other areas, like the playground, and to easily unload the car with kiddos. Rainy weather in the fall! 9At least for us). Bring extra tarps and rope!
Mixed
If I was reviewing this campground based on it's trails and woodland alone it would get 5 stars. This area is lush, green, quiet, and tranquil during the day. However, if youre like me, and looking for some night time peace and quiet, then this is not the campground for you. There was so much noise pollution the one night was here! It ranged from the sounds of trains, to air traffic, and possibly generators. Even the voices of other campers far off in the distance carried loudly and late into the night. Also, my site was just "ok". There wasnt really anywhere to pitch my tent without it collecting water, should it have rained (luckily, it did not). I will not come here over night again. During the day, yes.
