NM Welcome Center

The NM Welcome Center provides overnight parking for travelers along Interstate 10 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. This state-operated facility serves as both an information hub and convenient stopping point, with a large paved lot that accommodates big rigs and smaller RVs alike. The flat, level parking area sits adjacent to the welcome center building, which houses travel brochures and helpful staff during operating hours.

Campers consistently note the facility's cleanliness and well-maintained grounds. The parking lot includes water spigots positioned near the sidewalk, covered picnic areas in a central courtyard, and a designated fenced pet area. Restroom facilities remain accessible around the clock. Alicianlv observes that "bathrooms are very clean and you can tell grounds are equally maintained well."

The location offers practical advantages for road travelers. A service station sits just down the road for fuel and supplies before continuing travel. While train tracks run through Lordsburg, the welcome center's position shields campers from rail noise that affects other local accommodations. Rattlesnake warning signs are posted on the property.

Stays are limited to one night only. The facility charges a fee and accepts pets. For extended stays in the area, campers can find options at Lordsburg KOA or explore campsites near Animas for additional choices.

Closed

I was making a long haul in from White Sands and arrive at 10:30 pm hoping to make a quick overnight. The signs along the Interstate seemed to indicate all was open and that there were spots open. Alas, as I pulled in there was a sign in the middle of the entrance that said it was closed. Very disappointed. I turned around and had a great stay at the Veterans Park the next exit back.

Desert oasis

This is a gem in the heart of the desert. Very clean and inviting. We really like the architecture and the history that is provided on several signs. The spirit of St. Louis actually landed nearby during its historic flight. Be alert, though. There are rattlesnakes signs posted.

Perfect for the weary traveler

This is the New Mexico welcome center in Lordsburg

It is a flat parking lot, plenty of room for big rigs. There was a semi truck here at the same time and he was noisy from a generator but we slept fine.

The staff at the welcome center was helpful and the lobby was full of brochures for all the fun things to do in New Mexico.

They have a water Spicket in the parking lot right next to the sidewalk and they have garbage available and a pet area. They also offer bathrooms and sheltered picnic areas, super clean.

You can only stay one night at this parking lot but again it was a perfect spot to stop after a long day of traveling

Nice Rest Stop

Easy access right off the highway. Very well maintained. Lordsburg has a train track that runs through town that’s made sleeping at other locations impossible but I didn’t hear it at all here. This will be my go to spot when I travel through now.

Nice Overnight Parking

NM Welcome Center offers overnight parking for weary travelers.

Parking lot is large enough for big RVs, truck campers and cars. Bathrooms are very clean and you can tell grounds are equally maintained well. In the courtyard there are a number of covered picnic table areas as well as others on the grounds, pump water spigots on grounds & fenced in pet area.

There is also a New service station just down the road which is convenient for coffee & fuel before getting back on the road.
